Have eaten here on a few occasions now and the food is absolutely fantastic.
Really authentic food that tastes divine.
One of the yummiest restaurants in Palmy. The place is small though so not sure if I would go there with a really large party, but great for small groups. Second to none.

Food was great and reasonably priced this made up for the fact that the place needed a good clean up, dirty dishes sat too long on the tables, and people’s timing of their meals differed greatly…..Important also for the waitress to have a good knowledge of the menu so she doesn’t need to bluff her way through questions asked of her…

My family and I live in Auckland City and we came down to visit family friends in Palmerston North. They took us to this small but elegant restaurant “Ken’s Kitchen” The food was amazing ! I haven’t experienced such flavour or Asian food before! was really delicious! Next time we are down we’re definitely going there, people should go there! strongly recommend! Dishes are quite large, but great for taking home and using it for tomorrow’s lunch. My family and I very much enjoyed it! The chef “ken” seemed very friendly when he came out to have a chat to us. Great service from them in Palmerston North.

Honestly, I had a lovely night at Ken’s Kitchen. The service and food was wonderful. The best Asian cuisine that I have had in Palmerston North in a while! I used to go to the Monsoon Asian Kitchen that was owned and created by Ken and have really missed his cooking of the dishes. I am so glad to go to Ken’s Kitchen to taste this wonderful food again and would/am going to go back any day. I HIGHLY recommend Ken’s Kitchen, Ken may be busy at times but the food is always delicious. What a lovely homely restaurant! thumbs up!

Five of us went for a meal that I had previously booked, we had originally booked for 7 to 8 people. However sufficed to say upon arrival we were down three people as they couldn’t make it, so after we sat down for a drink we were asked when the rest were turning up. When we told them they weren’t we Were asked to leave, Ken was pissed off with us, and refused to cook our meals…
Wtf is this guy the soup Nazi off Senfield! Not impressed, and the place was not busy, his loss what a joke!

Delicious meals, been here a few times and much enjoyed. Very small location so booking is best. The toilet is in need of better attention as it was quite dirty. It dosnt look much from the street but the meals are worth it. (I dont eat steak but my partner said the sizzling steak is the best thing on the menu)

I went here with my family of four a couple weeks ago, I was absolutely stunned with how amazing the food is there. I don’t know about these past reviews.. but i found the service and the restaurant to be friendly and the perfect atmosphere. Beautifully presented food, the chef was very very kind as he gave us all a cup of chinese tea on the house. I would definitely go back there. Best asian restaurant i’ve been to by far. Wonderful food! way better than the monsoon asian food that they are cooking at the moment and I would choose to go here over cafe cuba any day. Thankyou ken’s kitchen! great dining experience and food! Very glad i booked a table! A+++

Very good value for money, the buffet is just delicious!

What a shocking night;
A large booking was in, so we were placed on a small table by servery(3 of us)
The waitresses were abrasive and rude.
Food was brought out too fast , and there was no room on the table for our plates as well as the # of platters they were bringing out. The waitress just stood above us while we tried to re-arrange the table. In the end our dinner plates were just about on our laps, only 1/2 on the table.
My husband went to the toilet, and warned us girls NOT to go, as when toilet flushed the handbasin gurgled.
Only a small sign on till indicating”cash only” . Fortunately we had some on us.
It would be great if this was more visible.
The food was average.
We were disappointed as had read a newspaper review which gave a great report.
We will not return

We booked out this venue for a private function and would highly recommend it to others. Excellent service from staff, brilliant food and unbelievably cheap

As a party of seventeen, we booked into Ken’s kitchen two weeks prior to going in. We were greeted by a lovely waitress who began to take our orders. However, as a few of our people had not arrived yet, the chef came out and demanded that we had to pay a minimum of $17.00 per person, not including desserts or cork-age fee. He then told us that we had to pay up front because he “didn’t trust us.” He also said, something along the lines of you guys can go eat anywhere else, we don’t care. After this horrible service, we left, and ate at Cafe Cuba down the road, where there was much better service. However, for Ken’s Kitchen, this is NOT a good place to eat, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody after the way we were treated. The venue is also very small.

I went with a group of friends to Ken’s kitchen about a month ago. The food was fantastic and great value for money. The service was great. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. We all enjoyed our meals and will go back to Ken’s when we are in Palmy next!

4 of us went here for a meal a while back.
The food was mediocre at best, the service was dreadful, the 4th in our party got their meal when all the rest of us had finished and not so much as as a “sorry about that”.
Wouldn’t eat here again if it was the only restaurant left in Palmy!

A shame that my food arrived 40 minutes after my partner’s. Very greasy. Service was mediocre.

Recently my husband and I had a wonderful dining experience at this slightly out of the way restaurant in Cuba Street.
We were staying at the travelodge and it was walking distance.
Soup was thick and authentic.
The mixed entree was a tasty selection of spring roll, chicken satay and a few other morsels, the chef was happy to substitute the mushroom for us as we don’t eat them.
The Yum yum sizzling steak was amazing, lightly battered with sesame seeds and fried served on a hot plate with sweet sauce and the fried rice was of a very high standard.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, it was great value for money the food was exquisite and the service great.
I am now trying to think of an excuse to go to Palmerston to have dinner at Kens Kitchen again!!!

Ken is a great chef, always tastes lovely and fresh. Good value, great food.
