Loved it. The food was fabulous – some unusual dishes, but all the usual favourites as well. We were visiting son & niece who are studying in Dunedin. It was a perfect place to take a group of students who appreciated the variety of food as a change from hostel/flat food. The decor is quite old fashioned and the English of the staff was a bit sketchy but they were friendly & helpful and food came very quickly (as we had requested). Will definitely go there again. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

This is my favourite restaurant! The food is usually quick, there is tonnes of space in the restaurant to just drop in and the food is authentic and delicious! Two of my favourites are the “eggplant with spicy soybean paste and eggs” or the “sour pickles cabbage and fish” or both! Names may sound a bit strange but it all tastes fantastic.
Going with a big group so you can try as many dishes as possible is a must!

Food-wise, probably the best Chinese in Dunedin. The dishes were full of flavour, the presentation was authentic, and the portion sizes were generous. All quite worthwhile. Service disappointing — the manager came across very severe, while the waiters didn’t seem to know what they were doing. But the quality of the food easily makes up for it and I’ve come back several times.

I am a Chinese myself and have been to a number of Chinese restaurants in my time both overseas and in NZ.
I was sceptical at first coming here for Yum Cha. We ordered:
- Prawn dumplins – definitely recommended. Prawns were large and sweet, how it should be
- Durian cream puffs – I have tried others, but thought this was very good, as they were not overfilled with creme
- Pork and Chives dumpling – over exploded dumpling. did not think it was that good
- Beef with Chilli – this is a soup based dish, very spicy and very good.
- Mushroom steam buns – these were chicken and mushroom buns, very good. The white part of the bun was very good.
Definitely recommend this place, very authentic.

Terrible waiting time. We waited 45 minutes for the first (of 10) yum cha dishes that we ordered to arrive and then another 30 minutes. One dish in 1 hour 15 minutes. So i asked the waitress how much longer we will have to wait. It was only then that she told us that 2 of the dishes had run out. 5 minutes later we were served 5 dishes. And waited another 15 minutes. After an hour and a half since we got there, we cancelled the last 2 orders (who knows how much longer we would have had to wait!!!) and paid for 6 dishes.
6 small yum cha dishes, 1 and a half hours of waiting.
Even if it was going to take a while, just informing us that it would be however long would have been ok and allowed us to decide if we wanted to stay or not. DEFINITELY NOT going back there again.

Had Yum Cha and some menu food here. Most probably the best Chinese restaurant in Dunedin. Ingredients are fresh, nice use of spices and chilli, and not heavy and greasy like some Chinese food can be.
$15-20 will get you a large plate of food for one big appetite or two normal ones.
Will be back again!

The best Chinese restaurant in Dunedin. Authentic fresh straight from the wok food. The price is not cheap but the quality of the meal is good.
It is a very small restaurant and The atmosphere is just very plain and ordinary. But if you go there just for food, this is the chinese restaurant you should go in Dunedin.
