the pasta was al dente, which is actually hard to find in nz according to the 3 latinos i went with.
however, we did have to ask for a bit of reheating – which was very kindly and apologetically carried out.
byo is good.
good prices.
nightmare parking situation. don’t try to use the massive carpark surrounding the restaurant, so go for the street.
soooooo much parmesan included, as in, a shakerful on the table – yum! however, no bread on the menu to soak up the sauces.

Me and my boyfriend went to the La Porchetta last Saturday, and I had “Penne Chicken and Mushroom” and he had “Penne Carbonara”.The service was good and efficient, the price was OK but our pasta was really bad, dry and not tasty at all!!! I couldn’t find any sauce and mushroom in mine.. It was really disappointed, I was expecting a meal much better from an Italian restaurant!!!!
The food came really fast to the table, it looked like as “FAST FOOD”…

Good value, specially their lunch specials.

Good pizzas, have not tried pastas.

Decent venue, except that some parts leaked when it rained hard. But did not dampen our appetite!

this restaurant is kind of the Italian equivalent of Denny’s,average food but generous serving sizes and value for money, the service was good infact a little to good about a minute after we walked in a waiter came to take our order kind of hard to make up your mind after that short amount of time, then about one minute later another waiter came and then another in the end it got kind of annoying, food came really quick i ordered the chicken breast with creamy mushroom sauce which came with fries underneath which i thought was kind of odd.

food was actually better then i was expecting, except i tried some of my friends pasta which wasn’t so great tasted like something you could make at home nothing special,so if you want value for money this is the place to go but steer away from the pasta.

My rating would be 3.5 as the food is good tasting and economical to share amongst large groups of people (on several occasions, we’ve ended up paying only $6/7 pp), however, where La Porchetta on Hobson fails is customer service.

On our last visit, our small group of 4 asked to split the bill. There was no one else waiting to pay, it was the end of the night and we had ordered quite abit, however, the guy was extremely rude and refused to split the bill for us. I can understand the frustration when a giant group of 30 ask for the bill to be split, but what really annoyed us was his arrogant attitude. Its left a bad lingering impression… that’s probably why we haven’t been back since.

Have been here plenty of times. Last time we came here we had a group of 20 people celebrating a birthday. We had real nice food – the pizzas are pretty good (if a little greasy) and the pesto pasta is a fave. Ok service – friendly and helpful mostly although they forgot our drinks a couple of times and a couple of (otherwise good) waiter didn’t understand English very well. Sometimes it can get a little loud and a little hot! But those are minors. Also it’s rather cramped.
The only real complaint was that they put normal tomatoes on a pizza instead of sun dried tomatoes (this being the main reason the pizza was ordered in the first place). We spoke to the waiter about this and his reaction was to argue with us that it doesn’t make a difference. We convinced him finally that it does make a difference to us and for him to please rectify the error. His solution was to take the plate away add cold sun dried tomatoes to the top of the pizza and bring it back to the table. We questioned this again and (nicely) asked if we could have a new pizza or that they could at least heat it. To this the manager was called by the member of staff. To which he made a big deal out of it as well. In the end we got our wanted pizza. But a lot of hassle!!

Overall cheap pizza and pasta for ok prices with mostly alright service. Good for catch ups with mates.

Not so great as far as taste goes… always find myself asking for extra sauce or load on the parmesan cheese… but my mates like it here, and its always busy so I guess for some it fits the bill (cheapish prices). Good for the gang to get together for a feed.
