Went for a Saturday family lunch. Excellent service and the food was great. The garlic bread was awesome, soup was real tasty. All together a very nice afternoon.

Excellent tapas and the calves liver pate is a must. Outstanding views and a must to sit at the window on a summer evening.

Red is for passion. Love the red lighting around the pillar in between. Always lifts the mood to any occasion. We went to La Vista 2 weeks ago and had a good dining experience. Considering it was a Friday night the place was a little busy so there was a slight wait for the food arriving on time. As the evening approaches, the lighting ambiance was lowered, creating a soft and pleasant atmosphere. Overall the food was delicious from entree to dessert. Will surely put this restaurant on a “Must return” list.

Have been to La Vista but today was so disappointing. The layout of seating in the restaurant allowed for our breakfast to be spoilt as a man stood between our table and the next (his back to us so his arse was at the same level as our food) he actually was close to resting his bottom on our table. When this was pointed out to the staff they looked embarrassed but did nothing.

Very disappointing service.

My wife and I have been to La vista several times, most recently last Friday when we celebrated our wedding anniversary there.
The restaurant has a great atmosphere, relaxed yet tidy enough to put on your nice clothes.
The waiting staff were friendly and efficient, especially Georgi who served us most of the evening.
No complaints with the food, we had three courses, firstly Calamari ( to share ), next Chicken Linguine/Beef Strips, finishing with Marinated Pear/Tirimasu. Liqueur coffees rounded off a perfect evening very nicely.
We will definitely be back.

Been going to La Vista for 13 years and never been disappointed yet with either breakfast, lunch or dinner. Food is well priced and portions excellent, wait staff always pleasant and attentive. A top spot

La Vista is a nice quite place to go for a Sunday night dinner. The friendly, relaxed staff, candles and music make for a great night away from the crowds of mission bay.

Went there for dinner last night. Though the location is lovely, the food was decidedly below average.

We started with scallops which were bland, slapped together – and sparse (there were only 3). The pork belly main was even more disappointing. Overcooked, dry and tough. Again, the portions were extremely small and served on discs of microwave mashed potato.

Dessert merely topped off this unpalatable experience. Ice cream with a poor, slapped together attempt at chocolate sauce which was grainy and tasteless.

What really gets on my goat is that I could have made a much more delicious version of this at home for a quarter of the price.
I could have done a much better job at home.

We will not be going back to this place. Three of us just finished working from 4am-7am (13 Jan Thu)and it was nice to see the place is open at an early time. We need hot drink and some to eat. Approached the lady at the counter to order coffee and we were greeted with an unfriendly face as if we are burden to be there. Asked if there are any pastries/bread/muffin available, she told us that it is still being baked and will be ready in about 15 minutes. We ordered our coffee and decided to buy bread from the nearby bakery. The same woman told us in an unfriendly manner that we cannot eat the bread in their place!! We dont mind that as long as it was properly said and considering they dont have any bread to sell at that moment. This is a place where you dont want to start your day.

Good location, pleasant decor, indifferent service.
My meal was fine although not very filling – had to ask for extra bread.
Dining companions enjoyed their lunches too.
None of us would rave about this place but our experience was overall fine.

We’ve been to La Vista for breakfast before and the food was decent and service lacking… when my extended family came to visit us, we decided to try it out for dinner, to see what it was like. 3 of our party ordered the Pork Belly, while two of us had different dishes. We ordered a couple bottles of wine, and also had deserts. The food actually did taste wonderful, but again service severely lacking… poured red wine all over the table, didn’t apologize or wipe it up, forgot cutlery for one of the group and we had to ask twice for it. Worst, was 5 hours later when the 3 who ordered pork belly all had extreme food poisoning. The other two were fine, so it was really quite obvious what had been the problem.

We called the next day, not so much to complain, but to let them know what happened so no one else was violently ill – and they denied that we had even come the night before! The manager kept repeating over and over there they didn’t have a 5 person table the night before! Totally taken aback, because why on earth would we make that up, it was totally laughable. NO apology, nothing. We’ve already taken up the matter with the consumer board, because serving food that has gone off, and then not even acknowledging it is incredibly poor service.

We are local to St Heliers and have blacklisted this place…

Usually a Kahve breakfast is in order for Sunday mornings, however with my favourite haunt being completely full, I had to try La Vista. Have been for dinner, and were suitably disappointed, so a similar experience at breakfast ought not to be surprising. Cannot complain about the service, because quite frankly, there were not any. Everything seemed such a hassle for them, and I felt like an impediment. Not the ultimate experience for a leisurely Sunday brunch. Thought they would have been happy to have another $6.50 per glass orange juice? Agree with the other reviews….the portions ARE small – and it is not cheap….had the ‘Me Breakfast’ – Chorizo, potato and mushroom in a garlic cream sauce, with toast. [ read - slithers of turkish bread ]. Children certainly are not catered for [ although a seven year old can consume the entire adult ‘portion’. Lacking in atmosphere, and ‘la vista’ being non existent from the depths where they seat tables for one with newspapers. Not impressed. Try Kahve – whilst service will not knock your socks off, the meals are fantastic value, the juices – incredible, child friendly and a lovely way to spend any morning of the week. Ladies who lunch are a specialty :)

Staff in a hurry to get you out the door. This is a place where you need to order a large bottle of wine as the table service for a second drink does not exist. Food only average. Floor staff nice and pleasant but chosen for there looks rather than any ability to serve customers. Menu well written, chef should read it and try to deliver on some of the promises. OK if you’re hungry otherwise avoid. Oh and don’t sit outside unless you like a lung full of bus dust.

We’ve just eaten at La Vista this evening for the first time. Disappointing to say the least !! The dinners were served on cold plates and the quantities were certainly on the small side. The descriptions of the meals sounded mouthwatering, but the reality was the flavour was actually missing from the food. One dish was supposed to be lamb marinated in sumac, but it was bland and had no sumac flavour at all. The lamb was also undercooked so very chewy. The chicken dish was supposed to be flavoured with cumin, but it wasn’t. Several of the dishes in our group were cold or, at the most, just warm. When we told the waitress, she just said “Sorry.” When we told the Manager, he just said “I’ll tell the kitchen staff.” There was no offer of a discount or anything. It was as if they didn’t care at all. There were no excuses really – this was a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was certainly not busy. For the prices they charge – especially their wine prices – this was probably the most disappointing meal we’ve ever eaten at a restaurant and certainly not good value for money. Considering it was supposed to be a special family celebration and for the exhorbitant cost, we would have been better to eat at home !!!

The place is smack dab in the average department as far as taste is concerned. I ordered a cheese plate and it came with only about a dozen waffer-thin crackers and ONE bit size piece of cheese you can buy at any corner dairy.

The location would be great except that if you sit outside in the day the bus stop is right there and the busses are a constant source of annoyance.

We were impressed by everything apart from the quantities of food.
The special was a good deal main and dessert or entree and main for $30.00
The extra vegetables as a side asparagus only half a dozen stalks.
I had eye fillet steak and thats what it was no bigger than an eye ball.
If you want a good steak meal not the place. Have been there twice now.

The rennovatoins have been matched by a very nice menu and excellent food. They have great specials and the locations cant be beat. Some of their young staff are well meaning but need to raise their game to match the quality of the fitout and the food.

This is my favourite cafe in St Heliers.

They appear to have low staff turnover which I believe to be a good sign.
Reasonably recent renovations indicate that the owners are not afraid to put money back into the business too. Very pleasant.

La Vista is a great choice any time of day from an early morning coffee to go, breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner.

Enjoy! :)
