On first impressions amazing scenery the decor is beautiful. Unfortunately the food is not up to its image it is like it is out of a packet reheated mush!But it gets worse the manager/owner a northern Irish man i think is an arrogant, angry little man that has no place in the service industry, its a shame it has the potential to be an amazing place but for that to happen front of house and food have to change. My advice eat in one of Ashburton towns great restaurants and stay clear of bad food and the arrogant Irish man

Our children had made us a booking for 2 and on arrival they had been expecting us, the service was very good the waiting staff were very efficient..
The menu did not have a large selection but what was there looked good, Both my husband and I had the sirloin steak, and it was cooked liking however the meals were overly priced for what they were..I would expect to pay around $32.00 for a Eye Fillet steak as oppose to a Sirloin on a root vegetable mash ( which I gather was just mash potato..as I couldn’t taste any other root veg) & garlic tomato…the blue vein cheese sce was probably the high light of the meal.
I would go again but would actually like to see more of a variety in the menu and the pricing more accordingly to what the meal is other than that I think Id rather just get fish n chips and go and sit down by the lake

I went for dinner there recently and it was absolutely fantastic. The service was some of the best I have experienced and the food was perfect. To start with me and my partner shared the bruchetta and then I had the beef- Medium Rare and it would be the best meal I have had in a long time. The only disappointing thing about my experience was that I could not fit in dessert. Would definately go there again and think everyone should.

food good, long wait though. Staff average, but the lake views make up for that. Unfortunately they are lowering their standards and offering cheap meals there now, they used to be a fine dining restaurant. A nice place to have a coffee on the waterfront in summer.

We had booked earlier on in the day for lunch, for 17 people including 6 children under the age of 10, at 12 noon. We were told that that was fine but we had to be out by 2pm as they had another booked function. This was fine until we arrived and found our seating not even set out yet. So after around 15 minutes we were finally seated. After another 10 or so minutes we were provided with menus. Waiting for another 20 minutes – half an hour, our orders were finally taken, for food and drinks. We received our drinks 5 – 10 minutes later but our food was eventually brought out after nearly two hours from time of seating. We had only just started eating before the guests for the function started arriving. This service is extremely unacceptable. We understand that the restaurant had another function booked but they knew how many of us were coming and they should have either turned us down or brought on more staff to cater for both the restaurant guests and organising the function, which was obviously first on the agenda. The food wasnt cheap either and was not something we’d rave about. They were lucky that they had a lake nearby for the children to amuse themselves with because kids shouldnt have to wait two hours for their lunch, and they all did order kids meals which usually are brought out first. Our dining experience at this restaurant has made us not want to return which is shame because it is set in an amazing environment.
