L’Assiette is a French cafe in Britomart serving up modern french cuisine. The breakfast menu has many kiwi classics with a french twist, while the lunch menu moves on to more french inspired dishes. Pastries are baked fresh onsite everyday and you can grab these on the run with a cup of Allpress coffee. L’Assiette also has a colourful array of macarons and tartes, as well as sandwiches and quiche.

A cosy and eclectic mix of old and new furniture makes this a comfortable spot to catch up with friends, or just take a break from the office.

L’Assiette is now open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings for dinner. Dinner is a simple menu, with two options for entree, main and dessert that rotate weekly. Having just received their liquor license, there is now a good selection of french wines, beer and cider on the menu.

I have just come back after having french toast with bacon, banana and maple syrup. And all I can say is “WOW”.
It was lovely and rich, i can definitely say the best french toast I have had.
I loved all the staff’s accents and the service was good it made me feel like I was in France.
I did not think anything of their bad English as a previous reviewer. Their English is totally understandable.

I definitely want to go back for dinner and to try their pastries, which looks absolutely amazing!

This place has the worst service in Auckland. Wanted to try out the macarons, waited in front of the cashier for a few minutes as he is busy doing his own things and didn’t even bother to greet or ask what were we after until we asked. The cashier’s English is so bad which makes it so hard to understand. In the end of the day, the service that’s provided is totally unacceptable. Rude staff. Do not visit this place.

First and foremost, doesn’t everything sound better in a french accent? This place has had a few newspaper tidbits here and there and I knew in due course, we’d have to check this place out. It’s a cute, modern french cafe in the middle of the city. Coffee is quite good and the food is quite nice too. The pom, who had the beef bourguignon, wasn’t too overly impressed with his food, but I did enjoy mine, I had the fricassee of corn fed chicken breast. For me, I’d like to go back and try the pastries, something rich, gorgeous and decadent. Service was friendly and the parking gods must have been on our side, as we were lucky enough to find one, literally right outside. Apparently, they serve a mean french onion soup, but have yet to try.

This is a cafe with a really pleasant atmosphere and attentive service. The food I had was simple, well cooked and very tasty. The coffee was good too.

Had a great lunch with friends here. I had a delicious smoked salmon salad with pear, brie and toasted almonds, all the food was great and the service was friendly.
