This is one of my regular eatery simply because they serve great food at very reasonable prices. The owners are extremely friendly. My favourite dish is the vegetarian tofu noodle soup, it’s egg noodle soup with fresh fried crispy tofu and some veg. Yummy! They also serve 4 other vegetarian dishes (which is just great for me.)

The atmosphere is a little drab but I go there for food. The menu is a typical HK style menu, lots and lots of different things available. I would say their food is a cross between the Europeanised Chinese takeaway and Cantonese food. Comfort home style food.

They’re a husband and wife team which explains why they would struggle if the place gets busy, but the food here is a lot better than what you would get in any takeaway joints and most of the HK cafes around Auckland without a doubt!

Part of me doesn’t want to write this review, because in so doing may make my favourite noodle house harder to get to… Anyway, Legend Noodle house deserves some internet praise as they hands-down make the best prawn-dumplings in NZ. They use good amounts of prawn, pork and chinese mushrooms to make the dumplings. You only get 4 in a bowl but they are huge in size and you can do what I do and ask for 2 extra dumplings. My mum makes them like this but not as big.

The service is what you’d expect in a small suburban HK style cafe (ie a tad slow) but the proprietors are friendly. The ambience is a bit stark as well, but again this isn’t what I go to this great eatery for…it’s all in the food!
