The two of us have just walked out of this place after we stood around like chumps waiting to be acknowledged and seated. There were three woman doing front of house; none of them even looked at us and one was whining to another customer about how stressed she was. They were less than half full for gods sake! When a group of 5 walked in after us and were directed to a table we decided that was it for us and we went to Cafe Rosetta instead and had a lovely breakfast with nice service. Lembas, you need to sort your service out.

Dined at Lembas Cafe on 1st October. Was disappointed to be greeted by less than happy staff. Menu’s were given but order was taken far too long after we arrived. Because of the Lembus Burger publicity winning overall best burger in Wellington Region, this was my choice of main. We sat watching as burgers rolled out of the kitchen to other guests who had arrived before us. Was appalled to receive our meal 45mins after we arrived. So starving almost ate the sauce! To make matters worse we had to approach the counter to ask for dessert. Ideally we would of loved to have had our coffee with dessert, however the waitress seemed less than happy when we requested that. She served our dessert first, then reluctantly brought our coffee. Wont be going back

The food is consistently pretty good but I do find the staff a bit stand offish at times and it is certainly more expensive than most of the other cafe’s we frequent in Kapiti – particularly for breakfast.

Have been here a couple of times, and would definitely go again.
Their garlic prawns are to die for, and a great range of wines.
Magic.
Friday nights often have some musical surprise …

My husband and I had brunch there this past Sunday (7/2/10), both meals were excellent, well prepared, well presented.
Our mochas were great too, nice and hot, just the was we like them.
The staff were friendly and unobtrusive, clientele were interesting, great place for people watching!
Awesome meal topped off by unexpectedly running into my uncle whom I haven’t seen in years!
We will definitely be back, most likely at Easter on our next visit to the Wellington area.

The food, ambience and staff speaks for itself. But it’s the coffee that gets me…if you are are a real coffee fanatic, this is the only place on the Kapiti Coast that consistently makes a perfect coffee each and every time.
I will be back and recommending this to to my friends when I return to Queensland.

The weakness of MenuMania has been proven with the reviews for Lembas. I have given it a 4 but mainly because I think it is under rated by the few people on this site. The people who have rated it low may have had the bad experiences they claim but how do we really know? I go often because it is more than just a place to get coffee and I live near by. Out of the 20 or more times I have been I have had had good food most of the time.

OK Thursday 18-6-09 was a really cold night, and some extra heating would have certainly been welcome. But the dinner was excellent, served by two very pleasant and attentive waitresses, with top shelf musicians completng the set-up for a very memorable evening. Many thanks.

My sister went here with her mate during the easter holidays. Their meals were nice enough but there was a massive argument while they were there. A customer complained about having to wait over an hour for his mains and he felt they should waive the 15% holiday surcharge. Apparantly the manager went off at him, ranting and shouting like a mad woman, really over the top. The mans wife tried to calm the woman and she got a mouthful too. My sister was gobsmacked but later thought they should have backed the man as ranting at your patrons is just not good customer service. It may have just been a bad day for her but I think I will give this one a miss

ordering a coffee at this place is as cold as you can get!!! the staff ignore you for ages and when you finally do get served by the unfriendly staff you are made to wait forever while the two discuss what thev been up too of late.the coffee machine heads could do with a scrub too. the coffee is often very bitter.I often think the Lady’s act like they’re to good for us commoners..well Wake up your just a bloody coffee maker same as me!!!!!

The chef puts together interesting meals that are always a delight. Obviously very experienced with food and flavours his nite time fare is a mix of old fashioned bases and newer ideas and flavours. Desserts always presented beautifully. Most importantly the staff are attentive and the Manager always finds the time to make sure you are well looked after making your experience seem special.
