I visited Liquidate for lunch after cravings for their twist on an eggs benny a good friend had found. I heard the chef was a fairly recent change over.

On my quest to find one of the best in Wellington, I was not disappointed. A potatoe cake like rosti, was smeared with a delectable basil pesto, pretty nice crispy pancetta, with almost-perfectly runny poached eggs placed on top. The micro herbs in the middle and the hollandaise/reduced balsalmic swirl around the plate was a nice touch. I would recommend the cava by the glass they serve with this dish -this spanish bubbles was lemon twang, crispy pear and nice fizz.

My service was great, and the chefs had made this dish for me well after breakfast service was shut down, but they still delivered. I sat at the bar as there were no unreserved tables for one. Clientele being on the terrace is your generic city workers lunching, maybe not the place to take your grandma – but; no doubt I will make this my regular.
