The advertising is true – The Little Hut really DO have the best cheese rolls in Dunedin, no actually The World. The fact that nobody north of the South Island of New Zealand has ever heard of a cheese roll is insignificant. We know. Oh boy do we know. The staff are friendly, they have a great selection of food and a delightful crossover of old and new – kiwiana classics such as the lamington alongside your fancy modern latte and panini. Would highly recommend ****

Friendly service. Clean and tidy.

Terrible coffee. Tasted like it was made with filter coffee.

The breakfast was Ok. Kind of old fashioned but not in a good way. Hash browns were soggy. Bacon was under cooked. The eggs were cooked properly.

I’d kind of describe it like a trip back to the 70′s in terms of prep, presentation and flavour.

Stopped in for a coffee and to try the famed cheese rolls. They are made to order and only took a short time to come out. The cheese rolls are very cheesy, but not greasy-cheesy like, the bread was toasted and all of the cheese melted through.

The counter cabinets have a very good selection of Hot and Cold prepared product. There were a few gluten free baking options available also.

Coffee was hot and made perfectly. I was offered to have my coffee when I ordered or wait till my cheese rolls were ready which I thought was considerate – I opted for straight away needing to cure my coffee fix ASAP.

Although only a quick take-away visit to Little Hut, I am now interested in what else they have to offer and will be returning sometime soon to see what other kiwi classics they have available

My partner remembers the amazing crayfish rolls the Little Hut had in the 1950s and 60s. He’s obsessing about them as we speak. Bring back the crayfish roll!
(The Little Hut still does great sandwiches. There’s my review.)

Best cheese toasties in the land, hands down.
Get them to make them fresh for you . . .
Yum.
