I dined at this restaurant with high expectations, having enjoyed the Little India experience in Dunedin often. I couldn’t fault the food. It was everything I expected. However, the staff, in my opinion, were stiff, starchy and lacking the good humour of their Dunedin counterparts. The presentation of the restaurant is immaculate but sterile. Still, a classy restaurant serving top class Indian food has to be good.

If You like Indian food, this place is the best in town. Tandoori King (on Evans St) has really good food as well, but Little India has it all; nice location, outside seating, nice atmosphere for the indoor seating, friendly service and excellent food! I am a vegetarian, and my partner is a meat eater, and there’s plenty of choices for us both! We will definitely be going back/ordering take-aways often!

Phoned in my order, and I arrived at the agreed time, and my order was ready to go!! We used to go to the Dunedin Little India on a regular basis when we lived there, and the food is still as good as it ever was!! I highly recommend the mixed platter for a starter, while the menu says mixed platter for two, you can order it for how many people you are feeding, i.e. you can order a mixed platter for 7. And I can never go past the Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan bread!! I have also enjoyed the vegetarian dishes too, whatever you order, I’m sure you’ll love it too. You can order all curries in mild, medium or hot. I enjoy a medium curry, it has a nice level of heat, balanced perfectly with an amazing blend of spices.
I’m so pleased to see Little India in Timaru, and I will definately be going back, dragging a few friends along with me too!! The restaurant looks lovely and fresh, to match the divine food they serve!!
