The unparalled popularity of our venues in North Shore, Waitakere and Newmarket encouraged us to head south and we were delighted to open another Lone Star in Auckland’s fastest growing city and New Zealand’s third largest overall, Manukau, in May 2006.

Lone Star Manukau is located at 792 Great South Road and overlooks the TelstraClear Pacific Centre, where as well as taking in the ‘Breakers’ basketball team, you can enjoy the occasional ‘Star Trek‘ expo. You’ll have no problem dining with us though.

Our new Lone Star seats 120 hungry guests and in addition we have a discreet, private(ish) dining area which is right on the money for those of you with big families or work or sport groups who wish to celebrate together in your own space, at your own pace.
There is also a spacious bar and a deck on which to sit and watch the sun go down. Simply give us a call and we’ll sort you out. Don’t forget

It was a family visit on a Friday night, we had booked ahead so no waiting. Prompt and friendly service upon arrival. Was told by waitress that due to being busy our main meals would be a while away. Had lovely hot garlic bread for starters, the steaks were cooked as ordered and arrived with generous portions of veggies. Managed to squeeze in dessert as well, again generous portions.

Looking forward to our next visit. Well worth our short trip from Pukekohe, hope we get one soon.

Booked for a large group of 20, waited for an hour, my friend bought a jug of beer and nearly fell over, it cost $27, never order another one again. after being seated, there was some confusion with the orders, you order the garlic cob and by the time you get your main dish everyone is starving so of course eat the bread well before the mains. You’re booked for 7pm by the time you get your meal it’s 9pm. Too long to wait, too noisy, you have to shout out your order to be heard. Food standard and service has dropped slightly. Booking a table doesn’t seem to help too much of a wait. Nobody was game enough to order a dessert.

I have been to Lonestar Manukau several times over the last few years and it is always amazing.

Delicious, big meals always the same high standard.

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

Meals are expensive but worth it as they are so yummy and also massive!

I would definitely recommend.

Highly recommended.
I was taken there by my daughters as a treat. I was so impressed by the whole atmosphere and service.
The food is one to rave on about.
Although expensive, it was worth every dollar.
Thank you for a great experience.
I will be telling my friends

I have been to Lonestar Manukau Several times before, so me and my family decided to go last night as we havent been in a while, The service was nice, we ordered our food, after about 30 minutes they told me they couldnt make mussels, so i decided id get fish and chips, 10 minutes later, couldnt make the fish and chips due to the chef forgetting to stock, i ordered the ribs instead even though i wasnt too sure on it, my mums meal came out, a plain looking steak, a small coleslaw and deep fried potatoes, my dads was about the same, probably could of had better for 5 bucks at a roast shop. Definitely gone downhill over the years, All the staff look under 25, not sure how people that young can run a busy popular restaurant. Sucks because we really liked Lonestar, Hopefully the Pukekohe one thats being built is better.

when we arrived there was a table so no need to wait. Our waiter was nice but she didn’t pay much attention just when she brings our food over and collect the dishes. I lobed the garlic bread It was bigger then I expected a size of tank loaf also had the seafood chowder I wasn’t a fan it was more like a soup I’ve had better and buffalo chips it was okay. He had buffalo wings it looked dry and not all that exciting to eat but he still ate it lol we didn’t have desert here. But it was okay they’re prices are expensive and not worth it the wait takes a while.

Went here for my birthday on Monday, I have to admit I was skeptical because I have been before and I don’t really enjoy their Chicken meals.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a waitress who was very welcoming, We did spend a little while waiting for another waitress to come back and take our orders. I ordered Lamb Shanks and my partner ordered a Rib eye Steak. The food came out within a reasonable time and my Lamb wasn’t the best a little dry and chewy, my partners steak however – it was delicious! I think next time we go here I will be getting a steak as well!

We arrived at Lone Star around 6pm and there were very few diners at the time, so we got a seat that we were very happy with, good views of the whole place and great for a spot of people-watching.

We had an extremely exuberant and friendly waitress who made us feel very welcome.

I ordered the pork roast with crispy crackling. Hubby ordered calamari with fries.
The pork came out with a generous serving of crackling, but sadly it was far from crispy. Limp would be an accurate description. I cut it off the pork so it could be popped back in the oven for a bit to crisp up.

Hubby took a bite of his fries to find them cold. Oh dear, not looking the best at this stage.

Our exuberant waitress came over to ask how our meals were, and we told her about the limp crackling and the cold fries. Most apologetic, she popped them out to the chef who quickly whipped up another bowl of fries.
The replacement fries were fine, thank you, but the crackling had clearly been thrown into the deep fryer and was burnt to a crisp. In fact when I broke it, it literally turned to dust in my hands. Black dust. Not nice.

Poor exuberant waitress looked so distressed it was hard to complain any more, and since there was literally nothing that could have been done to fix the issue, we accepted that I was not going to have crispy crackling this evening.

When we paid, we were asked if we enjoyed our meal and we told the reception person about our problems encountered. She was sympathetic, but we had no discount offered, instead we were assured that “next time” it would be different. Sorry, for us there will be NO “next time”. You already fleeced us of $60+ for a very average meal.

All credit to the extraordinarily cheerful waitresses though.

Just had a lovely meal at my local Lone Star & the service was great … And oh, the butts on the waitresses in those little short-shorts would make even crappy food look good!

food is a ok but the service! They just dont seem to get the gist of customer service im afraid. At our table of ten one of the young ladies was presented with the phone number of the bar person! Perhaps they forgot this in the staff training… try not to hit on the staff!

I’ve always liked Lone Star but going to this one in Manukau put me off ever going there again!
The service was great & friendly but the food was below average for what we paid for!!
I could have cooked a better meal at home, we were very disappointed.

We have tried to ring up to book tables and are declined every time and told to “just turn up”. So we “just turn up” and alas there are no tables.

When we have actually been able to get a table and have dinner, the food is fine. The service staff appear to be attentive but this is usually short lived and they soon forgot all about us and our drinks etc.

Gave LoneStar another chance over Easter. Not impressed. Not going back. Even my Lonestar fanatic partner doesn’t want to go back.

we went to this so called restaurant last night!! and i love my food and know what things are meant to taste like!!

the foods that was served here was horrendous!!

for my entree i ordered the buffalo chips!! i did not like this at all as the chips were not seasoned before being cooked it was almost like they were thrown on after they were cooked??? sent this back as i ordered it because it states that it is seasoned and obviously it wasn’t!

my main was the lassoo of hog!
the hog was not crackled!! hence it stating in the menu that its crackled??
my partner had the same hog at cobb & co and really enjoyed the fact that it WAS crackled!!

dessert was the milky bar kid! wish that the dessert lived up to its name being that the milky bar kid is well known!
the chocolate sauce was awful! never ever had that kind of sauce any where!!

this was the first time i have come to LONESTAR and im sorry to say that this will be the last time i will come!! sad to say really expected alot as people have been saying this is a awesome place obviously not!!~

up ur standards lonestar and until you do i will continue to go to COBB & CO

I am one to trot down to lonestar after an early evening movie, or for a casual catch up with friends. It seems as though MUCH has changed recently… (cutting back on costs Im guessing)

The buffalo chips are no longer seasoned before they are cooked they are just regular skin on potatoes.

My redneck ribs were plain sad.
The orange and sesame marinade was added after they were cooked (a cold sauce on plain dry ribs)

The standard of all the meals has appeared to have dropped (eg, price gone up serving size smaller)

Im sure that lonestar would have a good reason for this ready and prepared… (healthy portions maybe?)

Lone star used to be where I would go to have a good hearty feast. A “sometimes” meal.

I went here with my hubby & 2 kids. I was quite disappointed with the service of our waiter who did not know the answers to some of my questions eg. “What are the roast vegetables as per menu?”. Even though I asked for roast vegetables I was still given coleslaw so the waiter returned it to the kitchen. I also asked for mashed potato instead of buffalo chips & was told it was “sold out”. I requested my Angus Sirloin Steak to be cooked medium & it was given to me rare.
My hubby was well-satisfied with the signature Pork Spare Rib dish & the kids also enjoyed their meals from the kids menu. Although reservations are not required we were seated rather fast & our meals also arrived in a timely manner.
