The unparalled popularity of our venues in North Shore, Waitakere and Newmarket encouraged us to head south and we were delighted to open another Lone Star in Auckland’s fastest growing city and New Zealand’s third largest overall, Manukau, in May 2006.
Lone Star Manukau is located at 792 Great South Road and overlooks the TelstraClear Pacific Centre, where as well as taking in the ‘Breakers’ basketball team, you can enjoy the occasional ‘Star Trek‘ expo. You’ll have no problem dining with us though.
Our new Lone Star seats 120 hungry guests and in addition we have a discreet, private(ish) dining area which is right on the money for those of you with big families or work or sport groups who wish to celebrate together in your own space, at your own pace.
There is also a spacious bar and a deck on which to sit and watch the sun go down. Simply give us a call and we’ll sort you out. Don’t forget

Delicious, big meals always the same high standard.
Staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Meals are expensive but worth it as they are so yummy and also massive!
I would definitely recommend.

I was taken there by my daughters as a treat. I was so impressed by the whole atmosphere and service.
The food is one to rave on about.
Although expensive, it was worth every dollar.
Thank you for a great experience.
I will be telling my friends

Upon arrival we were greeted by a waitress who was very welcoming, We did spend a little while waiting for another waitress to come back and take our orders. I ordered Lamb Shanks and my partner ordered a Rib eye Steak. The food came out within a reasonable time and my Lamb wasn’t the best a little dry and chewy, my partners steak however – it was delicious! I think next time we go here I will be getting a steak as well!

We had an extremely exuberant and friendly waitress who made us feel very welcome.
I ordered the pork roast with crispy crackling. Hubby ordered calamari with fries.
The pork came out with a generous serving of crackling, but sadly it was far from crispy. Limp would be an accurate description. I cut it off the pork so it could be popped back in the oven for a bit to crisp up.
Hubby took a bite of his fries to find them cold. Oh dear, not looking the best at this stage.
Our exuberant waitress came over to ask how our meals were, and we told her about the limp crackling and the cold fries. Most apologetic, she popped them out to the chef who quickly whipped up another bowl of fries.
The replacement fries were fine, thank you, but the crackling had clearly been thrown into the deep fryer and was burnt to a crisp. In fact when I broke it, it literally turned to dust in my hands. Black dust. Not nice.
Poor exuberant waitress looked so distressed it was hard to complain any more, and since there was literally nothing that could have been done to fix the issue, we accepted that I was not going to have crispy crackling this evening.
When we paid, we were asked if we enjoyed our meal and we told the reception person about our problems encountered. She was sympathetic, but we had no discount offered, instead we were assured that “next time” it would be different. Sorry, for us there will be NO “next time”. You already fleeced us of $60+ for a very average meal.
All credit to the extraordinarily cheerful waitresses though.

The service was great & friendly but the food was below average for what we paid for!!
I could have cooked a better meal at home, we were very disappointed.

When we have actually been able to get a table and have dinner, the food is fine. The service staff appear to be attentive but this is usually short lived and they soon forgot all about us and our drinks etc.
Gave LoneStar another chance over Easter. Not impressed. Not going back. Even my Lonestar fanatic partner doesn’t want to go back.

the foods that was served here was horrendous!!
for my entree i ordered the buffalo chips!! i did not like this at all as the chips were not seasoned before being cooked it was almost like they were thrown on after they were cooked??? sent this back as i ordered it because it states that it is seasoned and obviously it wasn’t!
my main was the lassoo of hog!
the hog was not crackled!! hence it stating in the menu that its crackled??
my partner had the same hog at cobb & co and really enjoyed the fact that it WAS crackled!!
dessert was the milky bar kid! wish that the dessert lived up to its name being that the milky bar kid is well known!
the chocolate sauce was awful! never ever had that kind of sauce any where!!
this was the first time i have come to LONESTAR and im sorry to say that this will be the last time i will come!! sad to say really expected alot as people have been saying this is a awesome place obviously not!!~
up ur standards lonestar and until you do i will continue to go to COBB & CO

The buffalo chips are no longer seasoned before they are cooked they are just regular skin on potatoes.
My redneck ribs were plain sad.
The orange and sesame marinade was added after they were cooked (a cold sauce on plain dry ribs)
The standard of all the meals has appeared to have dropped (eg, price gone up serving size smaller)
Im sure that lonestar would have a good reason for this ready and prepared… (healthy portions maybe?)
Lone star used to be where I would go to have a good hearty feast. A “sometimes” meal.

My hubby was well-satisfied with the signature Pork Spare Rib dish & the kids also enjoyed their meals from the kids menu. Although reservations are not required we were seated rather fast & our meals also arrived in a timely manner.
Did you eat at this restaurant? Have an opinion to share?

Looking forward to our next visit. Well worth our short trip from Pukekohe, hope we get one soon.
