Established in 2002, the Lone Star Wellington is nestled in the Courtney Quarter in a real character office block formerly known as the “Globe Building”. This circa 1920 structure has been lovingly restored with a blend of both historical and modern design.
Inside you’ll find a sprawling contemporary and luxurious area in which to dine, imbibe and relax in – a reputable addition to the gastronomic centre of New Zealand. Downstairs the Café seats around 130, including relaxing booth areas and an eye-catching flaming star fireplace (a much sought after dining location, especially during the winter months).
Upstairs we have an elegant, opulent Lounge Bar with DJs most nights and a function room which caters for up to 60 people, available 7 days per week. The LoneStar also offers a set menu to cater for all your function needs – simply give us a call, tell us what you need and we’ll do the rest.

The meals are “American size” which is huge. We made the mistake of ordering an ontray and could barely fit our main in once. When you order bread, a loaf of bread comes out.
The atmosphere is ok but can be a bit difficult to hear someone. There is memorabilia all over the walls, so they are always a topic of conversation
They don’t do bookings, so if you arrive at a good time they can seat you straight away. Otherwise it is ok waiting near the bar,
The staff are ok but make sure they get your order right when the repeat it to you.
The place is clean and some seating you can see the chefs in the kitchen.
You leave feeling full. Right pricing for the meal and quality you receive.
Recommended.

The staff are always friendly and welcoming!
The last time I went to this Lonestar I had a couple of issues with the waitress ordering two of our orders wrong which resulted in us being charged a lot more then we were hoping to pay for our dinner (she ordered large meals and also ordered the wrong entree). Also, they had run out of a lot of ingredients for cocktails so we were unable to order anything.
This wouldn’t deter me from going there again as the food is so good, but I will be sure to complain next time the waitress gets the order wrong.

When the my brother said he wanted to go to lone star I was a bit disappointed my childhood memories of Lone Star are huge over priced meals no one can ever finish and that you pay for the quantity not the quality!
However my mind is changed and I will be back! We had an entertainment book so got 25% off our booking but I would pay full price as I was that happy.
The entrees are yum as- I had the calamari as I always do and having a chef back-round I’m usually disappointed. But not last night they were so tender and delish!
For a main I got the Ribs. They are massive and I took a doggy bag home- not so cool. The the quality of food was great- Kudos to the chefs on last night!
And a massive thanks for Josh he was our waiter and he has great customer service which is often forgotten in chains like lone star.
Thanks to all the staff for an awesome meal out- I’ll be back.
And the Jelly beans are great! Cheers mate!

Its quiet loud in the restaurant on a busy night, I found myself shouting at people across the table.
Watch what you order, staff bung ups are frequent and you could end up paying for more than what you ordered.

I really thought that this dish was going to blow me away, instead I was left feeling like quantity over quality was this places first and for most appeal.

A great Lonestar restaurant compared with others we’ve been to.

We waited for approx 30mins for our meals and I received a very over cooked 325gm Sirloin after requesting it medium. This was very annoying as the waitress made a real point of stating the chef does not recommend any of the steaks be cooked medium to well done, It was dry and and hardish on the outside. I did not say anything as we couldn’t get any attention due to the over crowded and loud enviroment. As well as not wating to wait any further as I was very hungry I made do, I wish I hadn’t.
As for desert there wasn’t any left of what we wanted after only 3hrs of trade so we left in a hurry and I personally wont be back for a main that cost $35 and was almost inedible.

Staff are normally quite friendly but once i didn’t eat my steak and want to take it home, he threw it in the bin and told me he replaced stir fried mushroom.
Good atmosphere, but too noisy.. Ideal from fa miles and kids (that made a lot of noises).
One thing I would like to complement is the Kahlua Cheese cake. TOP!!!
