Terrible experience today. Man at the front was rude and not very welcoming.

Should have gone with my gut and not entered an empty cafe on Easter Monday. Was greeted by a grumpy man at the counter, told to sit down then come back to order and pay. Decor was dated and dull. I ordered the berry pancakes and wanted yoghurt substituted with cream or ice cream, but was told I could not as it was already premade. The counter didn’t have sufficient change to break my $50 note. When my pancakes arrived, they were covered in plain yoghurt and drizzled with berries over it. Not too sure why it would be difficult to substitute for cream or ice cream as it didn’t look like it was premade berry yoghurt at all. Pancakes were average. Scrambled eggs on toast ordered by my partner were average too. Coffee was not good. Toilet looked messy and looked like a makeshift storeroom. Ended my visit by having my hair and back stick to adhesive residue on the back of my seat which was not pleasant as it looked filthy. Will not be back.

A touch of Italy on Ponsonby road LULUS
A group of six of us dined on pasta and salads, Italian sausage fettucine and Greek salad also chilli chicken penne and Cajun salad was to die for. In fact the whole table raved we could have been in Italy the best pasta we had in years. We will all be back to visit the friendly gorgeous staff. Cin cin lulus

When I went up the counter the owner barely glanced up from his newspaper. I asked for a long black with a jug of hot skimmed milk. He snorted and then said it would be $5. When he delivered it I asked if I could have a glass of water and he shrugged and pointed to the back of the restaurant. The milk was cold, when I went & asked for it to be heated he started arguing that I hadn’t ordered it hot. I curtly replied that I had, some hot milk was then slammed down on the table, I presume by his wife. You can’t charge $5 even on Pons Rd & offer such rude service when there are such great cafes nearby. Not going there again. PS: the coffee was terrible & weak

I can concur with the sentiments of the last review written. I stopped there just recently and was met with a similarly rude response when I asked if the dining setout had changed and was asked bluntly ‘what’s your problem.’ I quickly realised I had mistaken this dorks ‘empty Establishment with One 2 One just up the road. The vertically challenged nincompoop richly deserved the lack of patronage that was noted. He could learn something from One 2 One.

I had the most amazing breakfast it was a little expensive but when the food arrived it was worth every cent, not only was it a decent size but it was great quality!!

I think that Lulu’s restaurant can claim the tastiest egg dishes in the area. Try their eggs florentine or cheese scrambled eggs.
The desserts look amazing but I haven’t actually tried any yet because I’m too fat! Someday *sigh* – if anybody out there tries the coconut lemon bar, let me know how it is!

Best breakfast and brunch in Ponsonby, hands down. Reminds me of my favorite brunch spots in my former neighborhood of the East Village in NYC. I’ve eaten here about 6 times so far and plan to continue. Friendly and inviting.
I have not eaten here. On New Year’s morning, about 10.30am Jan 1 2008 I asked if I could get a coffee and plug in my laptop to do some picture editing. The owner was very rude. He sarcastically laughed and told me to get out and that there was an internet cafe across the road. I walked out. I felt so angry that he would treat a stranger like this that I returned and told hi he cant be like this to a potential customer. He told me to F…. off.
