Dined here this evening, the food was superb, the atmosphere great and the service excellent! Family friendly early in the evening and although we presented a discount voucher we most definitely didn’t receive ‘discounted’ service or food. Thanks guys for an enjoyable night, we will definitely be back!

Had been to Macs a number of times in the past years and very happy with what we had received in the way of food and service, unlike a few others at the time. A bit disappointing this time around. Change of ownership, no problem, staff seemed new too and the young man that served us was friendly and attentive. However while the menu has changed a bit, OK, a change is a change, we felt what we had was mediocre, but the breads and dips were a big let down. The bread seemed stale and as that makes up the main of the dish it could have been better. Left feeling, as they knew we had a voucher, we didnt matter, just give them the old stuff. Pity as its left us not wanting to return. Sorry.

Went to dine at hurstmere brew bar this week the menu has changed since last time we went. It’s really good nice selection of interesting meals. The gnocchi and the mango chilli salad were fantastic enjoyed the pork spring rolls and garlic pizza bread, we really enjoyed the chocolate fondant dessert. The service was really good and friendly, looking forward to going back again

1 star for the outdoor dining area (although it’s looking tired). Nice place to come for an afternoon drink, but this review is about our dining experience: I ordered the Tuna it was over cooked to the texture on tined tuna but without the liquid. The tuna was sent back! My partner ordered the fish pie and a side of vegetables, which were cold and sent back also.
… 2nd time still unlucky – the Tuna was better but cold and the fish pie had a total of 3 bits of tinned smoked fish. Not good. We were given complimentary drinks to make up for it which was good. Until I paid the bill and unwittingly paid for the drinks : ( did not realize until we got home. We will probably have drinks here again as it is a good local spot for us, but we will dine elsewhere.

Macs Brew Bar had always been a place I loved to go for a drink on a Friday or a casual lunch with friends over the weekend. Used to love the deal vouchers and with a neat atmosphere, coupled with great staff it was always a good time out. But, after recently being back, and since they have changed hands, I have to say that very little of the above now applies. The atmosphere has changed and I would say this is due to the staff! The bar staff were rude and very unhappy, the food was very average and when I told the girl that my chips weren’t cooked they simply took them back into the kitchen and re-fried!!
Such a shame that it has gone this way as was nice having another great spot in Takapuna again. Can’t say I’ll be back.

Dined here on a Tuesday night and ordered the pizzas. While a little slow, it was definitely worth the wait! The waitress was very friendly however a little ‘dim’, having never heard of an ‘artichoke’ before! I must say that it is nice to go to a place where the food is as sophisticated as the interior design of the restaurant!

Great place to dine out at. especially good value with their vouchers that come up from time to time. Their fish in beer batter with chips is very good. The deserts are especially good and generously sized.
Always looking to dine here again.

Enjoyed dinner there last night. Had ordered a burger off the pub menu. Was really good and my sister enjoyed fish chips. Great value esp if you have one of the entertainment vouchers.

I’ve been to a few Mac’s bars several times and quite like the unique interior designs of all of them. The beer is my preferred brand anyways (and their cider). The food which I had there before was also very nice and I only found out that they also serve coffee, which I haven’t tasted though. I like the open and welcoming atmosphere and that people also bring their kids.
