we had very high hopes for this restaurant as it came highly recommended by our good friend who is a chef …we were not disappointed ! Our night started with delicious cocktails & concluded with wonderful food … complemented by wonderful service . The only flaw was the annoying 4 year old running around totally unhindered by his parents at 8.30 pm … our night improved as soon as this little “darling” was removed from the restaurant .

We visited for the first time and absolutely loved this restaurant! The Thali was amazing, in fact we ordered a takeaway the next night! Service very friendly and a great ambience. Would definitely revisit when we’re next in Hanmer.

Had a brilliant meal here for my birthday on 30th Dec 2009. My husband had the pork belly which was amazing! He went so far as to say it was the best thing he had ever eaten. I had the cumin coated lamb rack which was very good also. The other 5 people with us all enjoyed their meals – apparently the chicken was particularly good. I had a lovely saffron pannacotta for dessert. The service was also very good, we will definitely be back. While historically this place has been mainly Indian food, they seem to be moving more towards a contemporary cuisine with Indian influences. They of course still have a selection of curries on the menu (there were 3 to choose from when we were there), they also have Indian style entrees – we had tandoori chicken which was pretty good (nothing beats Little India tandoori chicken in Chch tho!)
we went hear to get sme takeout ,but were a bit dissapointed that curry did not cme with rice , so anyways we got green curry which was lovely but dal was very bad it was more like soup with no spice or flavour ,can not comment about the service but was not freindly and def not welcoming. will come back for green curry.
