have been twice. first time i was served a old salmon tart type thing and a side salad of lettuce with no dressing, my partners was even worse he got a burger that looked like they had got the patty from the fish and chip shops rubbish bin (not exaggerating). Second time I had no choice as it was a family get together booked before i had the chance to say anything, and thought everything deserves a second chance right?!… no, again terrible our group of around 10 all had tough meat and thought it was bad. not impressed!

Even though the host was apologetic and only charged us for one meal it was all so bad that my friends and I will not return. Three lunchtime burgers took almost an hour to arrive and then two had to be sent back as not cooked. Another 20 minutes passed and we had to leave to return very late to work. It was also annoying that the table near us, which we were seated and ordered our food ahead of, had eaten theirs before ours even arrived – but that’s probably because it was someone of note in Dunedin. All very substandard.

Went here for dinner because I had heard it had changed ownership. On a Saturday night we were the only people there and I didn’t think much of the food. I had the chicken and it was small, dry and tasteless. For the prices they charged it was not good value at all. The service was good but we felt our waitress was just a little too friendly (I know this sounds mean but she spent a lot of time at our table when we actually went there to talk to each other and it was a bit uncomfortable)
Dinner = 2 stars
However, on recommendation from many friends in the Valley I gave it another go for lunch. The food was fabulous and reasonably priced and the place was packed.
Unfortunately my order was lost somewhere in the rounds and I had to ask if it was coming after 45 minutes. But when they realised their mistake they apologized profusely, drinks were on the house and our bill was halved which more than made up for the wait.
Lunch = 4 stars (would have been 5 without the mix up)
So mixed feelings about this place. I would definitely return for lunch but perhaps give dinner a miss.

They have new management, we were very impressed. We had two very small kids with us and they were very friendly to them, the lady incharge gave the kids some colouring books, and got their dinner right away so they didnt have to wait to be feed. The food was very good, we all enjoyed it. Will go there again and recommend to all our friends with kids who want a child friendly and nice restaurant.

I had breakfast there and the eggs were cooked just perfect, a few days after that I went back and got a steak and it was really tasty

What a cool place!
Gorgeous outdoor area on a sunny day, and roaring fire inside with plenty of different spaces to sit yourself down in during winter.
