This is one of our favourite indian take aways – we haven’t eaten in. the sang paneer and breads are beautiful and the lime pickle is meltingly good and hot! almost creamy like avocado. my boys like the chix makanhi!
Master of India is a good choice of name for this restaurant.
They are very good at what they do and the food is fresh and hot, well as hot as you like it. They are happy to make a mild curry for wimps, or eye blisteringly hot one for the brave and always ask us if we want English hot, as opposed to the kiwi hot
MOI is tucked away from the CBD and housed in a lovely old villa with traditional Indian decoration without the flock wallpaper, which is refreshing.
They’ve recently revamped the menu (or maybe just reprinted) and it was tempting to ask for the muscles entree. The drinks menu is ok, they don’t stock a huge amount of spirits and next time we go we’ll remember to BYO.
We’ve never seen this place busy as some can be, although they do a roaring trade on take away. Sometimes we’ve been the only people in on a Friday evening, maybe we just miss the rush hour, although a crowd of hungry diners would add to the ambience.

Fantastic setting, great menu, excellent food, and the customer service was great! The waiter even took our very active todler off to play for a while so we could eat!
Set in an old New Zealand Villa with a lot of character mixed with Indian art and decoration.
Excellent Indian cuisine. Meals cooked according to taste and whether you like it hot or not. Nice variety of fare on the menu, good range of wine and beers including Cobra. Highly recommended for the discerning diner.
