Great location. Great staff.
We had a few things for the set menus that we wanted changing. I suggest if you are having a party and the set menus you test them and do the same (because of course its your wedding and you will have your own ideas) . The food was great, just needed a bit of tweaking for us. I have a restaurant here in Auckland so am a bit particular about presentation and well, having it just how we wanted it. They did everything we asked and the end result was a great meal for all and exactly to our taste. We had a few last minute cancellations so will use the credit to return and eat what we totally enjoyed on our wedding night.
Service was excellent, and the team really made everything run smoothly. They clearly have a culture of ensuring the client is happy and good attention to the detail of their specific needs. Of course I will be living happily married ever after, but if I was to ever arrange another wedding it would be with this team at this venue.
Well done guys.

I had a hankering for some mediterranean style lunch, so found this place online with their “Mini Mezze – A selection of sigara boregi, salt and pepper squid, Salmon skewer, smoked chicken, harissa beef skewer, Marinated olives and hummus, served with grilled Turkish bread” which was perfect for me. ($18.90, it was on the Lunch entree menu.)
Particularly delicious was the delicately cooked salmon on a skewer, and the beef on a skewer too. Melt-in-your-mouth. The hummous seemed freshly prepped from scratch, and was delicious with two small slices of warm turkish bread.
My only recommendation would be to heat the potato-filled cigar filo item for a bit longer. It was warm inside, but not searingly hot as would’ve I liked it to be.
The staff were very attentive. Particularly the young asian gentleman – who was managing the conservatory area where I was seated. And also the lady I spoke to on the phone beforehand was very friendly and helpful.
The prices on the menu are definitely leaning towards the spendy, but I think that’s what you’d have to charge for a set-up like this right on the beachfront.
I like that there’s a completely separate area (also with windshields) for family groups, complete with kids’ playhouse – so I didn’t have to contend with the joyous noises of playful littlies while I was trying to have some relaxing downtime in the ‘grown-ups’ area.
Definitely recommend this place.

I got a deal through one of the buy a deal sites for 4 of us, and the food was a let down, overpriced, and not even average.
We skipped entree’s and just had mains.
The fish and chips, and the Squid rings were like something I would normally get from the local fish and chip shop, but obviously a lot cheaper and better tasting.
I had the Fillet steak, and while it was cooked well, all I got with it was a small piece of Broccoli and mashed potato.
Because of the price of everything, we were reluctant to order deserts, but the wives did, and all it appeared to be was microwaved frozen deserts. Very disappointing. Will not be going back, or recommending it.

Yanni did us very proud, she is amazing, the set up was wonderful, the food first class and delicious and well presented. We had a choice of starters, mains and of course desserts and we did not have to wait too long for the food to be served.
The waiter alas I cannot recall his name but he was so lovely and so caring and most helpful. My guests were very impressed by the service, the food, the set up. I could not have asked for better. We all had a wonderful time. It is an occasion I shall never forget. I would recommend Mecca Stonehouse to all who are thinking about organizing an event.
This was the fourth time we have held a function at Mecca Stonehouse and will be back again next year. Thank you very much.
A meeze platter with over cooked beef skewers, and overcooked salmon kebabs, smoked chicken obviously from a supermarket, not an ideal start to a meal, but it did have surprisingly good salt and pepper squid…
Mains of a scotch fillet which according to the menu a shiraz glaze… Came out with pan juices with no hint of wine flavour at all… and a singular piece of broccoli, smothered in bearnaise… And lumpy, luke-warm mashed potato…
The staff seemed to not be able to answer questions about the menu (like what the sauce on the steak was meant to be) or recommend a wine with a meal, and were incredibly vague with any answers they did give.
Dessert: plum crumble… Tasty, yet the topping was incredibly dense, and the hazelnuts were incredibly overpowering, not what I expected from a plum crumble.
I’m glad we had a voucher, there is no way I would have been happy paying full price for such a disappointing experience at a restaurant where in the past I had been so impressed.

We liked it so much that we decide to go again for dinner.
For business or personal intimate lunch or dinner, Mecca Stone house at Mission bay is a great place.
I would like to thank you and your staff for a fantastic night. We bought a deal voucher the other night and enjoyed your set menu.
The entree was perfect assortment to get your taste buds going.
The main menu ( Scotch Fillet ) was perfectly cooked.
The desert (Plum Crumble Pie ) was most defiantly heavenly.
The service was impeccable and defiantly the best I have experienced.
Thank you so much for a wonderful night.
Service was great, with friendly and prompt staff.
The platter however was disappointing. All items seemed to be strewn on the plate, with our sauces and dips being mixed together and the meat skewers juice ending up under our bread and mixing with our salmon.
All in all not a bad place, but not one where I would spend $39 on a very average platter..

I ordered Fish & Chips ($27.90) on the day. First thing I saw when the plate arrived was BROWN battered fish, which was apparently over-deep-fried. Tempura beer battered fish should’ve been moist and with a soft crispy outer layer. Instead, the fish we got was BITTER, dry and rock crispy. In addition, the whole plate was absolutely bland (except the taste of bitterness due to the burnt batter). I had to season them with salt and pepper. Funny thing was the fries on the other hand was under-cooked. They weren’t raw or cold but they were in very pale yellow colour, even lighter than the frozen chips you get from supermarket.
The owner/manager came to ask how was everything, we just nodded and said ok. It was not because we weren’t dare to confront him but it was more of me thinking “what do you think? Can’t you see the battered fish was brown in colour? Did you even need to ask? Before you served, shouldn’t you put in your initiative and ask the chef to re-do the fish?”
I enjoy food and I do not mind paying big money for good food. Yes close to $30 for Fish & Chips was very expensive but if it was good, I would be more than happy to pay for that. Just like I paid $25.50 for the same dish at another waterfront cafe a week ago. But truth is the fish & chips I had there were worse than the $10 ones from takeaway shop! Mega disappointment when all you wanted was a relaxing day with a good brunch/meal + coffee at a nice cafe. I wouldnt say I won’t go back for sure but most absolutely not until we’re ready to forgive this disappointing experience. Perhaps will give them another chance next year.

I also was shocked by the number of spelling mistakes in the menu – never a good sign for what is trying to market as a fancy restaurant. My vietnamese salad resembled nothing of vietnam, the eggplant dish was very bland but thankfully my mum enjoyed her snapper.
Filtered tap water would have been great – the water tasted just awful.
Service was great but I wouldn’t be going back – maybe breakfast and lunch is better?

My partner and I came to your restaurant to celebrate our anniversary and had such an amazing meal I just wanted to say thank you also for the incredible service we received
All the waiters were extremely professional and helpful the whole time we were there
The food was outstanding and really tasty as well as brun good value for money
Thanks for a great experience Mecca mission bay
Although the service was good the breakfast was a real let down. I do not mind paying good money for good food but when you skimp on spinach! It is no no. I will still come here for the atmosphere but maybe for something else besides the breakfast menu.
Why do restaraunts or cafes located in beautiful locations fail so badly on the quality of food and overall provide average service. Do they forget they are a supplier of food not a tourist attraction?
My wife and 3 children had a voucher to Mecca and decided to take the kids for breakfast and then to the fantastic Mission Bay childrens play area. The play was great but the food was terrible. Do not come here for eggs benedict and if you cant afford $15 for a childs bacon and eggs on toast dont even look at this place (bacon is extra and sneekily placed below, eggs on toast is $10).
Mecca here are some tips -
1. Eggs Benedict is Eggs with either bacon or salmon or variation on theme with some hollandaise sauce. It is not hollandaise sauce with some bacon or salmon.
2. Poached eggs went pre-cooked and reheated by dropping back in boiling water, go cold pretty quickly.
3. Leave spinach sitting on toast for more than 30 secs before you serve will turn the toast soggy.
4. Smoked Salmon is usually more tasty served as smoked, not smoked then cooked by swimming in sauce.
5. Point 4 would suggest the dish was served hot, it was not.
6. A good cafe will serve chilled water on a hot day, especially with the number of staff present.
7. Just because you are near a play area do not think that parents would’nt mind a photocopied piece of paper and a box of cheap crayons to keep the children happy. Run they might but draw they will always.
8. If you have a chidrens playhouse, place outside, not in a corner that no child could access or parent could see from anywhere but being sat beside.
9. Because I want to make it to 10, I will remind you of $15 for a childrens bacon and eggs, wow.
10. For the lovely girl who was extremely friendly and welcoming when we arrived, I hope you take the most of the service charges, a bright star in a dull sky.
Mecca, don’t rest on your locatiMoreon and it being easy for a group of cyclists to lean their 15 bikes against the wall to make a living, get your act together. Another online voucher wont get me back.

Best part: Food – it was interesting & full of flavour.
Worst: Service by waiter (Amind?). He has been poorly trained (if at all). Tries to hard; tells you what he is going to do before he does it (“I will clear your plates now”) just like he wants praise for doing it – VERY annoying. First time I have ever asked for a change in waiter. Manager did take over SOME of the waiting at outr table but unwanted waiter continued to do some even after our request for a change of waiter. He twice got our orders incorrect – food & wine. Asked for 2 glasses of different Pinot Gris & received one Pinot Gris & a Pinot Noir!
Inside at night is pleasant & warm in winter. Toilets are OUTSIDE in the cold!
Also extremely annoying to hear Windows log-in chimes playing through the music system at full volume at least 4 times as they tried to reboot their electronic ordering system! WHY did they not turn volume down or disconnect the connecting cable before the re-boot?
This is an expensive restaurant ($38 mains) with pretensions to be 5 star but is really only 3.5 – 4 star at best overall. Disappointing is the best I could say.

Won’t be going there again mc donalds would have been better.we were at table 25 at around 2.30 pm.
I went there on a gorgeous autumn day last week. We really enjoyed our walk along the beach. Thinking of making the day perfect, we went to Mecca, which ended up with a bad decision. The chips were not fresh and appeared to be recooked. The coffee did not look like from a cafe at all. They did not have a sense of food presentation. They charged high price for the food but delivered a low standard customer service.
It will be my last visit to that place.

While it could be a great place to wander up from the beach for a meal it is a very tired and somewhat grubby cafe to bring guests to especially when you were expecting something better.
I had researched most Mission Bay restaurants and this appeared through reviews to be fairly good but I wonder how many of these are friends writing them.
My wife and our mothers ordered the Tempura battered fish and chips and I ordered the crispy salt and pepper squid.
The fish while fresh and tasty was covered in a fairly heavy batter not at all like tempura batter we have had before while the squid while crispy lacked any seasoning and I need to salt and pepper it myself.
The chips were just run of the mill precooked and frozen and the salad very ordinary.
The meals were definitely not value for money and we had far better fish and beer battered chips at The Patriot Bar in Devonport for $10.00 less. The chips there were hand done, chunky and tasty.
Service at Stonehouse was okay, friendly but not exceptional and as mentioned before this place has seen better days.
When reading about the place I was thinking of using this for our next company dinner as the Stonehouse is about the right size but after having a meal there I will definitely give it a miss.

My husband & I dined there on Sunday evening and found it more 3 star at best. The decor is tired, with damp patches on the plaster and peeling paint on two walls, despite the charm of the building. Two wait staff were looking after half a dozen tables and we were asked by both how our meals were, which is annoying the first time round let alone twice. I found both of them to be lacking in genuine warmth of service, affecting a smarmy approach which we both found irritating. One of them checked a text message after his phone beeped, and then stood with his back to us while he tapped out a response which I found lacking in professionalism. Both of them failed to see a used cocktail/juice glass that sat on a low windowsill across the room from our table the entire length of our visit, and despite taking our orders the waiter didn’t set our table (we requested one that had not been reset by the fireplace) so had to go and find cutlery after he brought our meals to the table. The food was pleasant enough (steak and a lamb shank) and was the best thing about the visit. The female toilets were disgusting – faeces smeared on the floor in one cubical, and generally less than clean. Disappointing as we had heard good things of this restaurant – we won’t be back.

Service was great! Anish our waiter went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable, happy and elated with our dining experience.
Not only was the service great but the food was impeccable as well. Good sized portions, hot and very tasty.
Just wanted to add as well, I had Pan Fried Snapper for my main and was enjoying it but had forgotten to request no coriander as I don’t agree with it. Anish checked with me after I had eaten almost half of it and insisted on replacing the whole dish without coriander for me. Talk about going the extra mile when it was not even his mistake!!
Thank you so much Mecca Stonehouse staff and management for a wonderful evening. We will be BACK!
Highly Recommended! AAAAAA++++++

Not knowing what to drink was solved by a helpful suggestion from the capable bartender for a delicious cocktail which was delicate yet well balanced and refreshing…perfect for our ambivalence about whether to drink alcohol or not.
The staff were very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful without being intrusive and there was never a moment when we didn’t have what we needed. The food was delicious and nicely presented and I cant really say any more other than the worst part of the evening was having to leave at the end of it. We will definitely be back!
