We were a little disappointed with the food, a bit like a stew, with cheap cuts. Very stodgy but i realise it might be just our tastes. Service was pleasant. The one thing that did worry me was the salt and pepper was an open container so you pinch the salt and pepper in your fingers and sprinkle. a bit unhygienic

After reading a below review about an unpleasant experience at Casablanca, i felt a little discouraged but decided to drag two of my closest and most pickiest friends along for the Moroccan experience.
Arrival/service – the waiter was friendly, although we noticed Casablanca was understaffed, the service was delightful and as efficient as could be. we were greeted with water and menus the moment we arrived through the doors followed by a selection of complimentary beautiful homemade Moroccan dips.
Food – all together we ordered a chicken couscous meal, the sweet lamb tagine and the fish tagine. I was far from disappointed. Excellent presentation, tastes, Armour and spices. The meals were very different from each other yet very satisfying! considering i was very hungry on arrival, the servings were rather generous and well worth the money (all together $65.50).
Drinks/dessert – i would recommend that you take your own wine to Casablanca for the wine list isn’t very large. however, the selection of Moroccan wine is satisfying for it is a Moroccan restaurant. The only dessert that they provide is a beautiful and moist baklava served with vanilla ice cream and presented in a decorative way garnished with different nuts.
Overall – Casablanca is a restaurant worth going to! from the atmosphere to the service and most importantly the amazing food. One of the best restaurants in Wellington that i have been to where you get a full cultural experience at an affordable price. The feel of the restaurant is lovely as it is family run and all the great reviews i have read reinforce this!

Complimentary nibbles were nice, but otherwise it was disappointing.
The waiter was very friendly when we arrived, but it took him ten mins to even bring us a menu! Then they didn’t have the wine we wanted (which was on the wine list) but he offered us one that wasn’t on the wine list.
We made it really clear that we needed to leave by 8.30 to go to a film festival movie. He said he’d “take care of us”. Our food was bought out at 8.30. Hopeless.
It might all have been forgivable though, had the food been good. It wasn’t. We both had the lamb skewers. The salad was boring, the lamb was chewy and the rice was almost crunchy and tasted stale. After waiting 45 mins for our mains we were starving, so we ate it all, but we won’t be going back.
Was not good value for money either.

My cousin and I dined at Casablanca cafe last night and it was good. Not only is the owner/waiter friendly and informed but also not pushy. I ordered the Lamb tagine – there was plenty of it and it was really tasty – my cousin had mixed kofta meal and that was delicous too. You also get complimentary pita bread and hummus and dip and olives. It is reasonably priced and I am definitely going back – let’s support these good little Wellington restaurants – YUMMY!

Love it, great price and so nice with the complimentary nibbles. The food is well priced and fast service. The staff are attentive and make good recommendations for food choices if you are unfamilar with the cuisine.

My wife and I went to this place last Saturday. Despite being full, we received prompt/great service and the food was excellent. Also must say it’s fantastic value for money.

Very cute little place. Was unsure based on other reviews online but decided to give it a go – glad I did. The lovely little complimentry pita breads with dips to start is a lovely touch, and the people are very friendly.
The food is very good and priced very well! Didn’t feel harassed or rushed at all like you can at some places.
Perhaps lacking a bit more of the romantic touch as the lighting is quite bright, but good for a few friends!

This has to be one of the nicest places I have been to all year. It might not be flash and high class, but it has loads of charm and great staff who are only too happy to help if asked.
The food was really nice, again great without being too over the top.
