3 Reviews for Memory Lane Restaurant
When we arrived, the big restaurant was almost empty. It felt a little strange to have such a big place all to oneself, but it certainly didn’t reflect on the buffet which was ample and varied.
I didn’t try the soup, but enjoyed the huge salad selection which would have almost been enough as a meal for me. As I am a vegetarian, I didn’t try the roasts but there were three (lamb, beef, pork) on offer, plus a wide selection of sides.
The ‘vegetarian’ option was quite nice, but nothing inventive (some sort of spinach-quiche). However, I guess that is what you get when you go to a restaurant that serves British-style food.
The desserts were nice, yet again nothing inventive, just the usual Kiwi stuff: apple pie, pavlova, canned fruits, etc.
The only thing I found disgusting were the chocolate fish that tasted as if they had been lying around in their little basket for months (which they probably have).
The place is quite expensive, but you can get your money’s worth if you are into this type of food. Not at all as bad as the other reviews make it sound.

This place is very expensive (in my opinion) but I must say the times I have been here I did thoroughly enjoy the food. But I would probably only go at lunch time when theres slightly less people and its cheaper.

I took my girlfriend here as a special occasion dinner, booked a table for 7.30pm, was rushed thru the dinner with waiters constantly checking us to hurry up, we had finshed the main and went to get desserts.. to find tey had been packed away, we asked if there was any available and we were told they were closing and we took to long. we left the restaurant at 8.20… with no dessert, and paying full price.. would never recommend, but i must say 1 waitress there was very good, a young indian girl. and i did notice she was being bossed around by another girl.. something a customer shouldnt see. im not usually picky but was dissapointed and embrassed that i had taken my gf here
