I had a Syphon as it looked so unusual. I got 1 on 1 time with a “non pressurised” barista while he made it in front of me at my table while talking me through the process, how cool is that!?!?!
I’ve been invited back on Wednesday for cupping, which they explained is like wine tasting, but for coffee. I’m very exited!!!

I thought I had seen it all from the plethora of cafes in the capital, however, I have to say this one tops the lot.
The guys behind the counter were so friendly, they greeted us from behind the coffee machine as we walked in the door. While enthralled in making coffees during what I saw to be a busy time, one of them took my order. I promptly found out they are using a Napier based coffee company Flight Coffee – go figure, I go to Wellington to find out Napier has gem of a coffee company.
The quality of the coffee is second to none, nothing like I’ve tried in Hawkes Bay and by far one of the best coffee’s I’ve ever had in Wellington and possibly my life.
The food was good considering there isn’t really a kitchen and the atmosphere was like walking back somewhere into the 50′s 60′s or 70′s, I couldn’t quite figure it out.
My wife and I will make this a regular visit when we’re in the capital.
Please, if you enjoy your coffee, you must visit Memphis Belle.
All our staff do actually, they know it’s the best place for coffee and wicked baps. Yup, all of us go everyday, except one, but he doesn’t go anywhere else either. Just straight home to play World of Warcraft.
I told him he was missing out, but he assures me that they have similar places to Memphis online, virtually, and I just don’t know enough about the internet to argue really…
Still though you cant digitally enhance the love Memphis shows my tongue everyday.
Thank you fly boys

The smell of fair trade organic coffee washed over me. The decor tickled me in just the right way. The music held me in rapture.
The man behind the counter greeted me warmly. His skinny jeans slid over to the coffee machine, where he skillfully coaxed a silky cup.
He looked me in the eye and told me the coffee would make me fly.
And do you know what? For a moment there, I did.
Memphis Belle Coffee House. It will change you.
