My family (6 + 1 child) booked for a Sunday outing for our 92 year old Mother. The place was warm and cosy but the staff were not. It was agreed that my mother would enjoy a dish from the Kids menu as it was a suitable size for her to cope with. The Waitress quite rudely told us that she was not allowed to have an item off that menu! She was told she had to order off a “golden” (oldie) menu. This was actually not as satisfactory – We could not believe the narrow thinking on this – We spent over $200 and would have thought they would have been more flexible. My wife ordered a cup of hot water ( which was served together with our coffees) and she used a non caffeine tea bag for here after dinner cuppa. She was later told very rudely that patrons were not to consume their own beverages in the restaurant!

We wont be going back.

Been to Monteiths Merrin St twice now. Once for a friends birthday. A group of us girls were seated and straight away asked for i.d. We all had our i.d. which showed the waitress we were all 20 or older apart from one friend who had recently had hers stolen. She wasnt going to let her stay there because she had no i.d. on her and suggested she call her parents. The waitress wasnt friendly about the situation she was quite rude and seemed to be pleased that she had almost ruined what should have been a fun dinner out. Eventually she was given my friends parents phone number to check she was over 18 the situation itself was ridiculous as she was 20 engaged living with her partner and child. The situation was ridiculous, embarrasing, uncalled for and handled badly. We were all tempted to get up and go elsewhere.

I’m not sure why i went back there after that back its convenient as its just down the road from where i live. Once again all asked for i.d as soon as we were seated, which we all thought was a bit ridiculous i understand they have to but we are all 21 and are usually not asked for i.d buying alcohol or cigarettes in supermarkets etc. Not to mention we hadnt even ordered a drink. 3 of us ordered beer battered fish and chips all of our fish was burnt and the best part of the meal was a side salad. A friend ordered steak which was undercooked and made me her slightly ill afterwards. Went to pay up at the end of night we werent asked how our meals were just paid and left. Poor service and poor food.

Nice place for a drink perhaps but wont be returning there to eat. One waitress there should not be working in hospitality she is rude and needs a lesson in customer service.

Not happy about attitude of staff, they refuse my boss as my guardian and told me to leave my staff function, where I had no intention of drinking. Very unhappy and humiliated in front of the entire resturant.

We ordered the Pub Platter which offered pork dumplings, lamb koftas (along with other items). We received meatballs! When we spoke with the owner her first response was “no-one had complained before” and “it is all minced meat”.
She eventually refunded $9.50 for “the part we did not enjoy” and said the chef was going to change the menu listing. but offered no apology. Therefore they have been passing off meatballs as lamb koftas and pork dumplings.I do see they have since altered the menu, but how long have they been fooling the eating public. We will never dine there again.

This is the worst restaurant i have ever been to. I tried to eat here one day with my daughter and my 2 grandchildren and even though the place was empty apart from 2 tables ( one not even eating, just outside smoking ) we were told we couldn’t stay as the were fully booked!!!! This was just after 3pm and there bookings started at 5pm!!! The WORST customer service I have ever encounted and Im nearly 50! I cant comment on the food, as we couldnt stay but then why would you want try the food when the staff clearly dont want you to eat there!!
