We were a party of four who just wanted some great Italian food. We did not book, but the staff were great at setting up our table even thought the place was busy. When we ordered however, we were greatly disappointed when we were told upon ordering that there were several dishes that they did not have for the night, even though some were on the specials, such as the Fish and one of the salads because there was no certain type of cheese. We brushed this off because the service was great and we were just to have a good time, the PIZZA was so delicious and so Italian. The food they did have was great, good value for money, good sizes. However unfortunately when we ordered deserts, they did not have most of the deserts, just the ice cream. So food was good, service was fantastic but the lack of the items on the menu was just right and disappointing.

We chose this restaurant hoping for a real authentic Italian experience. We were a table of three and this was our first time. The place is small but cosy and the atmosphere very relaxing. The wait staff was extremely friendly and the service was superb. If only the same can be said about the food. We noticed on their specials board the Fish specials for the night only to be told that there was no Fish for the night. We also ordered Cannelloni only to be told that there was also no cannelloni. This was a great disappointment to be in a restaurant that had lack of food. Other than that, it was an average place.

We chose this restaurant because it was in the gold section of the entertainment book so believed we could safely assume its quality and standard to be – well – gold!
Party of four on Sunday night, prebooked for 7.00pm – place not packed. Initial thoughts, sat at a table barely big enough for the four of us – in fact sat awkwardly to fit.
Ordered garlic bread to start which was divine.
Ordered cannelloni, ravioli, steak and fettuccine. Informed cannelloni had run out – went for the bolognese.
Meals took some time – almost 30 minutes – well that is three of them took 30 minutes – the fettuccine had been forgotten and took another 10 minutes.
When they meals arrived, the ravioli was the size of an entree (one layer across the bottom of the bowl), the bolognese was tasteless! No sauce and very mince beefy (with a funny soapy taste). The steak was okay – nothing great. The fettuccine when it finally arrived was not cooked. Al dente? No – it was solid – not chewable!
We mentioned the fettuccine to the waiter who offered something else. Not the nicest when three of the party of four had already finished their meals. After that we seemed to have been forgotten about. No one offered us the dessert menu or asked if we wanted coffee.
We left – not paying for the fettuccine (rightly), no dessert or coffee and of the view the gold entertainment card status should be revoked.

The garlic bread was really nice but that was the highlight of our meal. Unfortunately the pizza was just ok and I had so been looking forward to gooey cheesy lasagne with a beautiful rich bolognese sauce but what I go was kind of dry ad tasteless.

AH-MA-ZINGG!! My friend and I went here for dinner last month and I fell in love before even entering the restaurant (haha!) I saw through the open front window a delicious Italian boy :D Ok, the waitress was ok but the 2 waiters were just great, one was extremely cheery the whole evening. Our entree was I don’t quite remember but the star of the show was definately, definately! my RACK OF LAMB! oh my that is really the one thing I will miss since recently becoming a vegetarian. It was DIVINE to say the least wow! Dessert was gorgeous also, chocolate mudcake YUM! and tiramisu. The ambiance of the place really moulded everything together. Definately going back!

My husband and I recently decided to use our Living Social voucher that we purchased as it was about to expire. We loved this restaurant, the atmosphere is almost as if you could be dining on the Italian coast. The food choice for the voucher was amazing and the pizza we both had was delicious! I had to use the restroom while we were there and I must admit it was clean and pleasant. As for the 2 hunky Italian looking men who work there (ooh la la). Two small things as to why this is not quite a 5* were (a) they forgot to bring our glasses of house wine that we ordered so we were half way through our main meal when I reminded them that we were still waiting and (b) we found the itsy bitsy table a little too small for our 2 rather large pizzas, glasses of water & wine but we’ll fix that problem when we visit again by asking for a bigger table for 4!! We will definitely be back…excellent place.

OK, this is the first time I’m in doubt about the rating.
From one hand, I quite like the place and food (it wasn’t my first time here). But from another hand, hm-m-m-m – read the story….
We were celebrating my son’s graduation, 4 people. And I had a voucher from ‘living social’. Yeah, I didn’t read carefully, probably… The voucher stated that the value is $110. But it for two entries, two mains and two glasses of house wine. Nice. We ordered two medium pizzas (quite average, by the way), two steaks (good) and a bottle of wine. When i went to pay I was told that the voucher does not really has the value of $110. They counted pizzas as entries, steaks as mains – so far is OK. But the wine we ordered was not ‘house’ wine and it is not covered by the voucher. So – I have to pay extra. And voucher’s value dropped effectively below $90.
OK, I understand the wine I ordered was more expensive. But why not just I cover the difference? And the guy told me – “you may have your house wines now!”. I.e. when we finished our dinner and where about to leave. He was sincere but it was like a bad joke.
Important: we booked the table early this day and the staff was aware about the voucher.

As appeared, we were VERY lucky. If we would order four steaks and no medium pizza, or two steaks and two large pizzas – the voucher would cover only two steaks or two pizzas (“mains”) and had a value like $60 – 65.

Now, after I read here some stories how the restaurant overcharges customers with not existing meals etc. – I’m not surprised.

Be careful dinning in the place!

Took a few friends as a thank you gift. We were treated like royalty. Usually don’t order steak at an Italian restaurant as they don’t normally do it well. We ordered 3 steaks, all 3 were brilliant. Really good garlic bread. As a bonus the staff all look like movie stars. Thanks boys. We had a really good time.

Had a warm welcome from the attentive and very attractive staff. Food was good. The pizza bread was not bread as expected, but a pizza base and absolutely delicious. Prawns and steak were good too. Prices are up there, so not a place to go if you are looking for cheap, but having a BYO wine option helps out a bit so go, enjoy. I am happy to recommend you guys. Thanks heaps.

Four of us ate at Milano on Saturday night. Everyone raved about their food … three different pastas, and one person had the steak. Mine was very tasty. Will return to Milano to eat again on a special occasion. I would have rated it 5 stars if the food wasn’t so expensive.

Came here for dinner with one of my girlfriends. Arrived at 6pm on a Wednesday and we were the only two seated in the restaurant. Service was unobtrusive, the waitress’ english didn’t seem that great but she understood what we wanted. We both ordered pasta dishes which were delicious! Have been here a few times and have never had any issues.

We enjoyed a fantastic night out at Milano. The staff were lovely, helpful and authentically Italian. The place was nice and cosy with a lovely open front. The food was just heavenly – we had garlic bread, two different pasta dishes and the apple tart. Everything timely and efficient. It was a faultless restaurant experience.

In Auckland we are spoilt for choice with numerous outstanding restaurants. It is a shame that not all restaurants are up to this standard and are a bad representation of the industry.

We dined at Milano and were grossly disappointed. The seafood was frozen, tasteless and I had the added surprise of a large crab in my food. Upon advising the staff, they were submissive and did not seem concerned.

It was overpriced, underwhelming and completely unauthentic – I will never eat there again.

We went there as a family celebrating my sister’s birthday. Food was average, marinara pizza was extremely salty. After the waitress cleared the plates we had to wait for over 10 minutes to get anyone’s attention to order dessert. I had apple crumble with ice cream, I was very disappointed at the apple crumble because I was not given apple crumble! It was more like apple pie bought from the frozen section in the supermarket! upon payment the bill came to $215 for five people, only to find that we had been over charged with two extra desserts and another main meal. It was simply unacceptable. We will not be returning that’s for sure

Milano is the most authentic Italian restaurant in Auckland, and i am a Mediterranean myself. The service, the food, the place, all is like in Italy. So going there is an experience and not only food. The owner is also very friendly. I love that place.

Milano is a classy looking restaurant, however with the white table cloths under glass table tops, which seems odd, but I suppose saves on laundry costs.

Its a small and narrow place that also offers takeaway as an option.

Service was impeccable with water being frequently topped up. We were quickly seated and food was brought out promptly. Our food was hot, tasty and plentiful – and whilst in the more medium level range price wise, well worth the price.

I cant complain about the place at all – other than the fact that it was so hot inside. If not for the fact the food was so good, I would’ve struggled to have remained in there. Which is a shame because it was the only aspect that kept this from a 5th star.

Easily recommended for a quiet, intimate, genuinely Italian dinner out. Guys … easy to get your game on if you take ya lady out here!
