This is by far the best Indian cuisine I have tasted in New Zealand. The Chicken Tikka Masala is obviously made from natural spices and does not have the red food colouring that most Indian restaurants add to enhance the red colour. I came to this restaurant for an evening meal and found the atmosphere to be very pleasant and comfortable. The staff are polite and efficient at serving. I would recommend this restaurant to all genuine curry lovers, as it definitely deserves 5 stars!

I eat lunch at Mirch Masala several times a week as it is in a very handy location (next to my office). I really enjoy the Butter Chicken they serve as it is great value and it isn’t as oily as some places. They also have a good range of cold and hot drinks. :)

Don’t ever think about visiting this place !!! Warning .. Only if you want to waste your money!

I visited this shop yesterday on Friday to grab a quick lunch on my way. i have ordered 3 takeaways meals Curry’s for myself and my mates.

- Food was cold and disgusting ( not Indian food ) worst food ever.

- There was only 4 pieces of meat in the container which really was unfair.

- All containers were leaking ( improper packaging )

- Staff were grumpy and unhappy and not trained !!

- I complained on the phone and they told me that the manager never come to the shop. Because he is busy and they hang up while I was talking with that staff on the phone ( that’s stupid )

- Curry’s were watery and no flavour at all … tastes like s**t !

- rice was very sticky and uncooked properly.

The person who served me the Curry’s was smelly and was not using any gloves .

I will never ever go nearby this place and I will not recommend this place to anyone at all. Grumpy staff and not friendly

I think Auckland City Council must close this place because of the hygiene issues, wondering how did they get A Grade.

Waste of money !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They should change their name to filthy Masala.

It was Nasty and disgusting I honestly hated it, especially the curry section of this cafe not recommended at all. I had Chicken Tikka Masala for freaking $11.00 which doesn’t even worth paying $2.00. The curry was completely watery with 2-3 meat pieces floating on it and wasn’t spicy at all. After that my colleague had Biryani from the same place and it was same as abusing the Traditional Indian food, the Rice was wet and sticky whereas other places serve Biryani as it should be. Nevertheless even the Mango Lassi was sort of milky and watery.

Yeah last but not the least the staff of this cafe is aggressive, ill-mannered, grumpy and doesn’t know how to serve. While i ordered curry accompanying with Rice, usually the Rice comes after serving Curries but no here its different.

It was a funny experience for me with untrained staff and tasteless food. Hope you enjoy your Meal with them BEST OF LUCK ;-)
Caution: Plz do not go there and spend your money.

The 2 stars that I’m awarding Mirch Masala is because of the friendly staff. The food – on the other hand – is nothing to shout about. The curry that I tried was watery, with hardly 5 pieces of meat floating in it. The Masala tea that I specially ordered (as it wasn’t advertised on the menu – which I think should be advertised – after all, the cafe’s got the word “Masala” in it) was not as spicy as I would have hoped for. If it wasn’t for the milk (which they served separately), it would have been a very diluted glass of tea.
However, I think this cafe has potential – as they have very friendly staff (which is becoming a rarity in Auckland city cafes) – if only they improved just a wee bit on their food (quality dishes)…

I have visited this place twice and i was disappointed. The staff ar so grumpy and the food was very cold . I have had mango lassi which was 100% sugar. The currys are not spicy and the place atmosphere is similar to Cheap foodcourt. I complained to one of the staff and he told me that the manager was not available? Not recommended at all .. better you look for somewhere they serve you properly.
