My mother and I dined at this restaurant before seeing the topp twins + the APO on Thursday night.
We were taken care of very well, the wait staff were very friendly and efficient, the food was superb, and the prices were very reasonable.
We thank the MLC Cafe for a great start to our evening.

Right opposite the Town Hall.Four of us have been three times recently pre-concert.We arrived at 5:45 pm and were out by 6:45 without a rush. Attentive, professional and friendly service and food reasonably priced.There is an imaginative buffet but order in time from the menu and there’s a great selection. The vegetarian filo is a winner as is the chef.

Yesterday we attended my sons graduation in town deciding to have lunch with Grandparents and family first. We chose MLC Cafe & Bar. The service was good but my dad (who had flown up from Tauranga) found a cluster of maggot eggs on the bacon in his bun. After taking it back it was then returned to the table with the maggots still there and we were told it was bread crumbs. It clearly was not. We had to ask for another one to be bought out and I also had to ask for a refund for the bun in question. It put me off my meal.

MLC Cafe is a little gem, and with new menu it is rising to the challenge of being ‘the place’ to eat, have a relaxing coffee or pre-theatre meal.

I have been going to MLC everyday for the last 5 or so years, and have always found the staff courteous, the coffee divine, and the food of a high standard.

Haven’t seen Venison on the menu tho, think the last reviewer had their wires crossed.

Recently arrived in Auckland and wanted to try some quality Kiwi fare. So opted for the Venison casserole. Had a nice drink whilst waiting. Vension arrived and to my dismay….it stank of liver and appeared to be nothing but chopped liver in a nasty glutonous sauce. I immediately told the waitress of the mistake here as I wanted Vension and not liver. She took the food to the kitchen where the chef came over and assured me it was fresh venision. Definately not true! It was liver and disgusting at that. Horrible!!!!!!!!
