Have been a couple of times and it was fantastic. Food sensational the spare ribs were the best. Service very good. If on a budget don’t go, but I highly recommend this place. Try to go on a week night avoid the busy drinkers on Fridays

Mondial has a good atmosphere, but don’t go for the food if you’re hungry. It’s nice tapas but not much of it for the price you pay for each dish.

I’m generally not a fan of tapas due to the pricing of dishes etc but a friend recommended it so thought I’d give it a go.

Visited Mondial Cafe on a Friday afternoon (February 2012). From 5.30pm onwards it started to get very busy so it’s best to get in early.

My friend and I had the sangria (nice) the calamari (very nice) the ceviche – raw fish (very good with a nice kick of heat) and the shoestring fries (OK). The best thing on the night had to be the chocolate mousse which was sublime and a great size for sharing.

The service was great although admittedly we were the only ones there when we arrived early so expected it. The key to any great place is the service and it’s nice when there’s humour and smiles that go with it. The food was very fast.

There is a range of seating areas but we decided to sit inside as we didn’t want to end up beside smokers later on.
It was a very hot evening so it would have been great to have the front doors open wide. The addition of ceiling fans would have gone nicely with the ambience (and heat) as well.

All up it cost $70 including 4 drinks so fairly standard although more than I like to spend on small dishes. Definitely a nice place to visit if you like tapas and you can even eye up the owners Maserati parked at the curb.

The food was nice enough, though so very simple, nothing to write home about. It is a very busy place which is good for a happy atmosphere but can be a bit cramped. We had a bad experience with the wait staff for not dealing with some very loud, arrogant, swearing drunk patrons. They were kind of ruining everyones night around them including us. We spoke to our waitress and asked her to speak to them, she looked over at them, shook her head, and then walked off. It seemed she decided it was too hard and was going to keep ignoring it rather than deal with it. I felt if she felt she was not up to the task she should have asked the owner to intervene, definitely not the response she gave us which was rude and unhelpful. We and another adjoining table left in quick succession. One bad experience really can ruin it for you, I’ll take my money elsewhere next time.

I’d heard great things about Mondial from both word of mouth and reviews, so was excited to finally experience it for myself recently. I arrived before my friends, which usually means an uncomfortable wait trying to hang out inconspicuously inside or out front, but when I explained I was waiting for friends, I invited inside to see if they weren’t already there, and when they weren’t, given a seat, a glass of water and the wine list while I waited. Said friends arrived soon after and we chose to sit on stools at a large table in the rapidly filling main area; the semi-outdoors area out back is gorgeous with its lanterns strung overhead, but too smokey to enjoy on this evening. Having never been before, we opted for the tapas the (new but knowledgeable) waitress recommended: calamari with aioli, escalivada (vegetables) with feta & garlic bread, and Spanish paprika pork. All were delicious and filling, and the shoestring fries we also ordered weren’t really necessary (though we ate them anyway). Sadly we had no room for dessert but I’ll try that next time, and there will be a next time! I fell in love with Mondial – the genuinely friendly staff, fast and efficient service, beautiful decor that whisks you away to Spain, and the excellent food – and can’t wait to return.

Was really looking forward to our night there however the staff were arrogant and cold, the food was average especailly for the prices and waitress and owner wanted to cram seven of us around a table for four. wont go back and wont recommend.

Great food, great atmosphere and very friendly service. Been back a few times already. Try the Calamari rings, best I ever had.
