Members of our social club and I went to this bar on Friday 27 Jan 2012. We’ve had good evenings here before and they didn’t disappoint this time.
I got there first at 6pm. It was very busy. I hadn’t made a booking but the staff were very accommodating and found a table we could use until the next booking at 7.30pm (we finished at 7.23pm).
I had sausages and mash – one of my favourite meals. I got three huge sausages on a bed of soft mash and lovely thick onion gravy. Another of our party had fish and chips and got three sizable pieces of fish and loads of chips.
I found my meal to be very filling and, although tempted, I just couldn’t find space to try the dessert menu.
Other positives were that the staff were suitably attentive without being intrusive and the location of the bar with lots of parking (if you get there early enough) makes it a great place for us to go to. We’ll no doubt be back.

I brought my family to Monteiths Paremata on Wednesday 27th July 2011 for dinner.
We have been here a number of times in the past, but probably not for about a year. We were really quite disappointed this time. My sisters Fish was raw and had to be returned. My Chicken was dry and not very tender. My brother inlaw complained that the steak was tough, and my husband was not that impressed with his burger. We have been in years passed very impressed with our meals, so it was a real disappointement for us on this occasion. Can not complain about staff service, they were very good. Not sure if we will come again.

Had a superb meal. The chef had obviously given some thought to the vegetarian option, not your usual vege pasta. I had a delicious lentil soup with lemon cream (much better than it sounds), and the polenta stack with artichoke, mushroom, and capsicum salsa was beautiful. My partner had the duck terrine for starters, and the pork, which was cooked to perfection. Would recommend.

We’ve been there about three times in the last 12-18 months and have really enjoyed the food. The schnitzel was amazing.

I’ve been there several times before and after the ownership change, and have been very unimpressed with the restaurant since the management/chef change. The bar staff and friendly, and bar and table service is pretty good – it’s just the food quality I’m talking about.
Even the “kids eat free” special is not enough to make me return until I hear the chef has changed.
Seriously, you’d cook better yourself at home.

Popped in for a drink and decided to have lunch. I ordered the chicken salad and it was heavenly. The presentation was amazing and had everything described on the menu was on the plate….. And even arrived without dressing which I asked. This has been one of the best chicken salads I have ordered. My hubby had the paua fritters and he enjoyed those. Lots of paua in them which he was happy with. The pricing was excellent and we will definately be going back

Really great front of house guy, Steven?, always attentive and helpful, did go there before the change of ownership and was not impressed, but heard it changed hands and now the staff are great, friendly and helpful. food is really good now too. Would go again.

This is not your steriostypical pub, affordable food, suprisingly family friendly. waiters are awesome and very good with kids. Nice area out the back for drinking, and a very comfortable smoking area.
we have been there twice now once with children and once without and both times we were taken care of very well, would recommend to anyone, food is well presented and tastes great, recommend the big boys steak and eggs and the spinach and bacon pasta. Kids meals are taken to a whole new level and presented with as much professionalism as the adult mains. fantastic wine and beer selection. cant wait to eat there over summer and enjoy the sea view over dinner.
