We arrived to an extremely busy restaurant, and had to wait for about 15 mins for a table, but were tended to regularly and offered drinks while we waited at a lounge-like table and sofas.
The food was close to excellent, but we had to wait about an hour for our meal.. Wait staff were okay at this point, but we didnt see them very often and ignored our requests for a dessert menu.

What started as a friendly,smily welcome declined into average service, grumpy waitresses. My chicken salad was bland and tasteless, complete with hot, soggy avocado. His $20 rump steak was great value and perfectly cooked.

My partner and I came to the Monteith’s bar as it was very busy (always a good sign)- we were unable to get a dining table without a wait, but we were happy to sit at one of the bar tables. The food we ordered was fantastic and there was not too much of a wait for it (as would be expected for a busy place) the start of a great night in Hanmer.
