My wife and I have eaten at the Moorings 6 times now and have never been disappointed with the food or service. Their menu is limited but what they do, they do very well. We can highly recommend them as a place to eat.

I dined alone, midweek, when visiting the area overnight on business. I was warmly greeted, shown to a table and served a drink. I ordered a venison burger meal, which was beautifully presented and in quantity it was as much as I could eat. Very tasty, too. There was quite a full house and the atmosphere was warm and pleasant, many of the patrons apparently being locals who knew each other well. The only negative was that having placed my order, I heard the waitress describing the day’s specials to a newly arrived group at an adjacent table. I had not been told about any specials, which was a little disappointing. Apart from that, the service was excellent.

Had lunch there yesterday. The food is the best food to hit Cromwell in the last three years. Keep up the excellent quality, and the great service. Nice cosy surroundings on a cold snowy day!!

My husband had the big breakfast, was not the run of the mill standard fare. I had the pate entree which was delicious, especially the beetroot relish that went with it.

We also had a dessert, the lemon cake with limencello, was divine, plus the coffee was great.

I had the grapefruit juice for a drink, just a suggestion, maybe you could add ruby red grapefruit to your selection.

What a pleasant surprise. We weren’t sure what to expect especially after seeing all the staff dressed in Speights gear.We were looking for something a little better than a pub meal and we definitely got it.Our meals were impeccably presented with the homemade Gnocchi being exceptional. It was great to have local Pinot Noir out of a decent glass.
