Morrison Street Cafe is the most awarded cafe in the country in the 10 year history of the national Cafe Magazine Best Cafe Awards.
Set in a historic building in central Nelson this upbeat city cafe has large spaces, indoor and outdoor dining and lots of good local art on the walls. We have a strong following of local regulars, but visitors will also enjoy being part of the Nelson vibe.
The menu changes seasonally, with a focus on fresh ingredients. The Morrison Street Local Breakfast is very popular, as is the BLAT and our home-made muesli. Or try the Phad Thai, the Ginger & Honey Syrup Pancakes or the Morrison Street Local Breakfast – always a favourite.
Our Sweet Treats menu includes favourites like the Lemon Slice, the Double Chocolate & Macadamia Nut Brownie and the Lemon Slice.
And there are plenty of choices for those who are wheat and gluten, or dairy, free. Vegetarians are well catered for too, and there’s also a healthy kids menu.
And there’s our coffee … generally regarded as the best in town … with a string of awards to prove it.

We visited it on Thursday 26.August.
The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was lively.
The location is in the center of town, so it’s easy to find.
The prices are $10 to $20 for a meal witch is reasonable.
There is a wide menu so you can choose from a good variety of dishes.
We tried “the Winter Energy Salad” which had a special taste, but it was a good combination.
“The White Fish and Mussel Chowder” was a little salty but it was really delicious.
All in all we enjoyed the dishes.
We would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. We give it 4 stars.

It’s a great idea to combine a gallery with a cafe, so you can enjoy arts from New Zealand while you have your meal. Unfortunately, the seats weren’t very comfortable.
Overall, you won’t regret going there.

always awesome art on the walls and yummy food!
They change some dishes on the menu for Summer and Winter and there is always something you will get addicted to! The Warm Chicken Salad in Winter is to die for and the Breakfasts are delish!!
I recommend a BLAT!!!
With different areas for a private catch up, a meal, or business meeting, there is something for all!!
Well done Morry Street!!
