10 Reviews for Mr India Tandoori Restaurant
As regular customers of Mr India since it opened my partner and I have always found it excellent and we recommend it highly to anyone wishing to dine well in Palmerston North. Kirti Acharya is a congenial host and has consistently employed excellent chefs who produce high-quality food from a comprehensive and well-priced menu. He has now opened a second Mr India in Feilding and it is even better. The chef there is a genius and his cooking and spicing are perfect. Simply the best, most satisfying Indian food we have eaten anywhere (8 April 2012)

Just got delivered for tea. Nice and cheap and really yum. I recommend highly
Best I have tried so far and even my partner liked it (he doesn’t like butter chicken) The delivery guy was very nice and the food was really filling and very very tasty.

Very good food, don’t be fooled by the appearance of this place, its hasn’t changed in 16 years for a reason , it doesn’t need to. Others come and go but Mr. India stands. Well done, I’ll keep returning for good Indian food, the best in P/Nth.

Menu on the window on the street, good move.
When my girlfriend and I walked in the door we wondered what to do as no one was around to greet us.Bad move
However after a minute or two a man with a welcoming smile sat us at a table of our desire. The window
From here the service lacked although we did get their attention when signalled and in the room
Looking over the menu I decided on the hottest curry on offer and the hottest version of it. In anticipation I ordered a steinlager after our water staggered to the table. A moment later I am greeted with an Indian Kingfisher beer instead. The reason never fully explained although I am offered a taste to make sure of its suitability. Its refreshing and I accept although I do wonder If its extra price tag will be added to the bill.
The food comes to the table ten minutes later with friendly service, although our dinner plates hot to the touch. My girlfriends hot enough to burn if handled.
The food is generous, good looking for curries and tasted fresh.
I was disappointed with the hotness of the currie. My nannies curry sausages are hotter. It was tasty but if thats what you call hot then you need to reevaluate the kiwis threshold for hotness.
I enjoyed my meal and think its the type of great place for a few mates and some byo wine. Two people could easily share one main meal with some bread.
When it came to pay the bill I was silently surprised to see the extra $1 was added for the beer. Tut tut Mr India

Very bad service at Mr India Palmerston North. Waited for an hour and a half to get our entree. Took 30 minutes to come and serve us and then brought the wrong dinner to us. Very poor service and food was satisfactory. I do not recommend to anyone!!

Chicken saag spiced hot was just perfect. Mr India is not a 5 star place and does not pretend to be but very good food reasonable prices, very generous helpings and friendly staff. I go every time I am in PN always happy.

I’ve eaten Indian food all over NZ and in India.
You guys are my new favourite. I’ve visited there probably 40 times.
If you want kiwi style Indian food-do not go anywhere else.
Try the Dry Chicken Tika (Best in NZ).

Normally this restaurant is very good. I am gluten intolerant and last night I was assured that the food we ordered was gluten free. It definitely wasn’t as I had a very severe gluten reaction within a couple of hours. It wasn’t food poisoning as I am fine today. Really disappointing from a restaurant which is normally really great.

Not much flavour on tika masala.
Palak paneer flavourless Mush. Paying the bill took ten minutes while he mucked around with little bits of paper and argued with a previous customer.
