Have been several times over the last few years and the food has been variable: excellent to ordinary. Last night can only be described as worrying and disappointing. I had looked forward to the meal, but what I got was depressing! We were well received and the staff were pleasant although the long wait for our beers was an ominous sign.
Three of us ordered steaks and I understood I had ordered my favourite 500 gram ‘on the bone’. It took over an hour to arrive and was the scotch fillet!!
There was some confusion over the order so I accepted it but believe staff should check what they believe has been ordered before it is taken to the kitchen.
The food was ordinary and some was quite cold. I had mash but it was very cool and the roast veggies looked a bit sad!
For a steakhouse that specialises in steaks I believe it is not acceptable to have the meat poorly cooked! One of the three of us had his quite raw rather then rare,the other person had his rare rather than medium and my warm blue was rather well cooked and more like rare! It was very disappointing!
When asked the first time whether the meal was OK we remained silent. Clearly the senior person sensed something was wrong but asked no further. The same thing happened as we paid at the desk.
I would have said something more specific, but when you have a guest it is hard to say something without totally ruining the evening!
Overall, I was surprised at the low quality of the offering – although the service was reasonable.
Perhaps I should have heeded the rather negative comments gathering on this page rather than assuming ‘this could not happen to us’!
It did so I will need to hear of better things and improvements before I return. Sad really because it had some potential!

Has been twice in 2009 and loved the place! Went back this year in May 2010, would never go back. Wait staff where still great, but the food really let us down. The menu had just changed and the food has gone all “fancy”, since when had sea food soup been GREEN! Salad was inedible, looked as thought is had been made the day before and had some disgusting dressing over it.

I think things must have changed in a year as I would rate Mu amongst the worst dining experience ever. We were seated in front of an open back door, it was very cold so asked to be moved…note that at this stage there were only six tables occupied. Our meals took forever to arrive and when they did mine was not what I ordered but the waiter argued with me and said that it WAS what I had ordered. He reluctantly reordered and in due course the correct meal arrived. The most gross moment was when I discovered a hair on my plate. The surly maitre d said that she wouldn’t be charging me for my meal…which I sent back to the kitchen!! Dinner that night turned out to be a hot chicken from the supermarket on the way home. The night would have been better had the staff not been so ‘off’.

It took about an hour to get our drinks, the food is good but not mind-blowing, the atmosphere is really nice and the service is typical (translation: slow and slightly rude).

That place just keeps getting better and better, I dont know how they make the steaks so good but keep it going, we will be back soon for our Xmas function-well done guys

Fantastic. I was visiting Christchurch. The food is delicious, so much so we went two nights in a row. Lovely surroundings and great service. I can’t wait to go back

Fantastic food, atmosphere, location, service & wine. Has to be the best restaurant in Christchurch!!! The perfect place to take someone if you want to impress.
