i have traveled quite both internationally and domestic a bit and have eaten at over a hundred pubs/hotels/bars in nz alone. I have to say that Muldoon’s irish bar and brasserie has to be the worst i have ever eaten at. Im irish and also live in the same district and am embarassed that this place is in business. Firstly the specials board advertised beef fillet with garlic prawns. The cut was not fillet and came with a very strong curry taste and smell, which would of been allright if i had wanted beef curry but i did not. For some reason they had grilled my steak on the same plate as they had been cooking various curries. the limp and not fresh salad and fries that were still frozen in the middle did the cooks, not chef’s no favour as well. I wont go into my parnters chicken burger meal as it wasnt as bad but still bad. We from our table had a part view of the kitchen, and although i didnt check the hygene rating i wouldnt be surprised if it was in the D or E rating or more. I got the young waiter to doggy bag most of my meal and to be honest after telling him about the strange steak taste he did refund $6 from a $50 lunch, just simply not good enough. I got home and gave doggy bag steak to my cats which they wouldnt eat. What more can i say, I cant recomend this place and if any world cup visitors turn up to Muldoons on their way up north to games or just a trip then i cant see that this place would lift their game.

Excellent meal. Service was great as was the music. Had an outstanding evening. I will definately be back!! Cheers guys
