What a shoddily run unprofessional joint. They never answer their phone, their answering machine goes through to an ex employee and the managers never pick up their cell phones. Had planned to have my 30th here with 30+ people coming in attendance. They mentioned they’d supply music at a charge and would get back to me. They never did and I couldnt get hold of them to confirm anything even two days out from my party so had no choice but find somewhere elsewhere in a rush. Thanks guys!!!!!

Can I rate this lower than 1 star? Dirty filthy place with flies everywhere, dirty tablecloths at the beginning of the night, dirty inattentive staff that smell and are rude. Do not go anywhere near this place unless you want to get sick. The meal was disgusting, flavourless and so bad shall I go on and on. The one nice thing was that as the evening progressed they had live music. How can you go so bad with Mexican food? Its not that hard to make.

Second time to this restaurant – recommended by friends. Love the food and the interesting surroundings – definitely lots of character!! They also do wood fired pizzas so the place has this smokey smell. Would recommend to anyone who likes a well presented and not too expensive Mexican meal at the Mount.

We have eaten here a few times, with such mixed results. The latest trip we were so excited to be going so got there early o get a table.
The food was ok, we ordered spicy and the meals weren’t spicy in the slightest. No hot sauces were offered.
The restaurant really needs a huge clean, the table cloths are gross. We were the first people there and they were food stained already.
Probably will give up on going here as the bad is out weighing the good.m

I’m giving some stars because the place is REALLY REALLY cute. Outdoor and indoor seating has a real bohemian Mexican feel, with bright colors. Another positive is that they had flautas on the menu, which I’ve never seen on a menu before, and had their filling and topping been tasty, they would’ve been specatacular. They were purely corn, which I love. My friend had them with the beef filling which was somewhat tasty. I got the veggie version, which would have been fine except there was NOOO sauce or spice! There was some salad, a tiny bit of creamy looking drizzle (sour cream and feta?), some bland guacamole, but no cheese, and most importantly, NOOO sauce, spice, or peppers. I love green sauce, red sauce, brown sauce, salsa… any sauce. Anyway, no problem, I thought, perhaps flautas don’t come with sauce. I’ll just ask for some. Well, the guy who wandered out of the kitchen at some point said they had no salsa/sauce or jalapenos, they had run out, and it was a shame because they make their own hot sauce there and it is GREAT. I said, is there anything you have to spice this up (I also asked for salt)? He said no, but he would check. He came back and said I was in luck, he’d found the last of the salsa, 2 teaspoons of it! I halved it with my friend, and yes, that one teaspoon of sauce was EXCELLENT. However, it was not enough, and the fact that they had run out, made no effort to make more, didn’t apologize, didn’t warn me when I got to the restaurant that “We have NO spice today” made me a bit angry. I would not have eaten there had I known the mains would all be lacking essential ingredients. Or maybe I would have gone to the grocery store to buy some bottled hot sauce first. The margaritas were ok, but they used regular iodized kitchen salt to rim the glass which as a result tasted funny (metallic). I drank a bit of my Pina Colada but left the majority as it was mainly blended ice, i.e. not tasty. There was only one other table, and the service wasn’t slow, until the end, when the other table took a minimum 15 minutes to pay at the check out because there was some confusion about paying with cards on an offline card machine. The attractive Latin female server was nice. Regardless, no one seemed to care if we enjoyed ourselves.

I turned up with my daughters 2 celebrate my birthday and got turned away … I was told that it didn’t open till 5.30pm ( it’s supposed to be 5.00pm ) and that there was a group of 40 people booked then … Told to come back in 20 minutes and try my luck … A table and a drink would have been nice … Not happy!!!

after terrible service a few months ago we tried again to see if you have improved. unfortunatly no. the service was shocking our starter was forgotten and we only recieved our main, the waitress could not understand us or the other table for that matter. they were rude as prefered to hang with their friends who arrived to have a drink and not serve customers. we saw no smiles and very unpolite
the food was ok but not as good as it was when you first opened.
we where regulars when you opened but went away have returned and will never come back the service and staff are horrible!

Easily the best Mexican food I’ve eaten, and my two companions were in full agreement.
They had a cocktail each, both of which were apparently outstanding, and I had a pear and lemon juice which was delicious.
The service was prompt and friendly and the food delicious and a generous size. My only complaint: the poor outside lighting.
I see that earlier reviews haven’t always been so positive but it seems that the proprietors have well and truly sorted out their former problems. I can’t wait to return to this restaurant: the food was outstanding.
UPDATE: Made a return trip in late May. The food was again fantastic, but the service was very slow, with just one member of waiting staff for the first 45 min. Our drinks, ordered at the time of us being seated, were served 10 min after we finished our mains(!) Looking around the restaurant, there was noticeable impatience at the pedestrian service. This was a big drawback and really needs to addressed. A couple more people serving and I’d happily re-award the 2 stars that I’ve since removed from my original rating.
UPDATE PART TWO. Made a third visit in late June. Once again the meals were large, delicious and inexpensive, and this time they, and our drinks, arrived very quickly.
However, when paying our bill, we queued behind one lot of potential customers who left due to noone available to seat them, and other customers unhappy at waiting 40 min for one meal (it seems the other arrived promptly enough).
Mundo are in danger of shooting themselves in the foot by employing inattentive staff, or too few of them, which is making for unhappy customers.
The food is great but the lack of service, when the restaurant is busy is pretty deplorable.

We ate here as a treat for our wedding anniversary. Little did I know that this treat would turn out to be one of the most heinous dining experiences ever.
The staff were extremely unorganised- there was only waitress who was anything but proactive. We sat ourselves and waited to order. The restaurant had flies buzzing around and the manky tablecloth left a lot to be desired. We ordered a $39 platter for two. To be honest it was disgusting. It all tasted the same, I even gagged on the minced beef. It was difficult to tell what I was even eating at times. Throughout this ordeal a very dirty looking man kept coming from the kitchen and changing the song on the stereo. It was super loud. One of the times he even came out with a half peeled onion that he was obviously prepping- really put me off the food even further. As it was a Sunday we saw that we could order free dessert. The waitress never came to clear our table so we had to go to the counter and order it. They only had 4 out of the 6 options available. It came and was average to say the least. Yuck yuck yuck. Dirty restaurant and dirty food. Will NEVER go again.

Wonderful to see a Mexican restaurant in the Mount, but it’s definitely in need of some organization! Tried it on three separate occasions throughout the year, and was less than impressed each time. Staffing issues aside, the food is inconsistent and cleanliness has always been poor. On the positive side, the Michelada’s are AMAZING! (Mexican beer, lime juice, and salt) I would go back for one of those on a hot day regardless of the long wait!

Food was ok. But who starts cleaning the floors with Janola while people are eating???Then there was the lights being turned off around us, this was before nine! We went on a quiet mid week night but that was ridiculous, waited for dessert menu but they obviously wanted to go home so that didn’t arrive.
We all, nine, went elsewhere for desert.

Family and I were looking for a casual place to have dinner, and found the perfect place. It feels and looks just like a little Mexican shop-come-cafe. Colourful and unique, just like the shops over there are. If I were to be fussy I would say it look longer that usual to get our menus and for the food to arrive, but that didn’t worry us.
Most of the meals were much of the same thing (the tortilla wraps) but they had different styles and fillings which was great. I had quesadillas and it was delicious! Everyone else enjoyed there food as well. Overall: great service, foood and atmosphere.

What an awesome experience it is eating at Mundo Mexicana. The service is outstanding and the food is to die for, catering for everyones needs. We had quite a large group which was absolutely no problem, all the food was delivered together and just tasted devine – add on top of that they fact Mundo is BYO – couldn’t think of anywhere in the Mount I would rather eat!

Did you eat at this restaurant? Have an opinion to share?

Our voucher were due to expire on the 23rd ,so just went hoping they were open.. They were & the meal, the atmosphere & the evening was fine. We sat outside & the Wait staff were friendly, attentive & made the evening fun. Food is basic, but seemingly authentic.
