You cannot say you have visited Auckland until you have tried out the home of the best gourmet burgers in town – Murder Burger! Murder Burger have stamped their mark in the burger business – taking out the 2008 Metro Auckland Burger Award for their Beef, Avocado and Bacon burger and was also awarded the Viva Award for the best burger joint! If that doesn’t give you enough reason why you should head there for your next lunch, dinner or takeout, then maybe this will. For the hard-working gents or those with a hearty appetite, try the Outrageous Super Gourmet double beef and wild boar burger, famously dubbes the “MAN BURGER.” Ladies you are not forgotten – the gourmet chicken cranberry burger ladies is a hit with responding to those hunger pangs. The ultra-friendly staff, exhuberant environment, super-great gourmet burgers as well as a large selection of sides and other accompaniments guarantee that unforgettable Murder Burger experience whether you are eating in, taking in or simply phoning in for a pick-up.
The gourmet burgers were terribly. The bun was very basic, a minimal piece of bacon and not much else. Ordered the larger size chips, that was a pathetic amount.Should have gone to our regular Burger Wisconsin where you get good quality and quantity. I feel this place ripping off people offering deals for a product that is far from being gourmet. Don’t get fooled by the fancy website and branding. I suspect any good feed back was concocted.

Used a two-for-one GrabOne voucher to get two Gourmet Sirloin Steak Angus burger (as this was the only burger permitted in the Gourmet range) and was disappointed to find a really thing slab of patty.
The taste was okay, but the bread felt “powdery” giving the impression that it has been kept for a while already hence losing moisture.
I’m not sure if a normal priced (without a two for one voucher) would give me a thicker, and meatier patty, but considering they market themselves via GrabOne, this isn’t a good look and could drive customers away if they continued to serve different portion to voucher customers.

We discovered Murder Burger through a discount voucher website. We’ve been about ten times now over the last two years and the food is always excellent.
They make each burger to order so there’s a bit of a wait, but it’s worth it. We’re working our way through the menu but so far my favourite is the Gourmet Beef Avocado & Bacon. They also do brilliant chips.
If you love a good burger, check these guys out.

Very disappointed after hearing great things about them. Possibly we tried the wrong burger?? Angus steak burger $14.95 but it looked the steak had been beaten into a schinztel. Thin. $4.40 large chips would not fit in one hand. Delivered on time but food was not very warm. Ive made better burgers at home but I guess if you brand a burger outlet anyone can make money in Ponsonby??

Murder Burger would never go there. I bought a on line 1/2 price offer and it clashed with Xmas. The staff on the phone and management rude as only expired by couple days. Since heard burgers are terrible will never eat at the establishment too much attitude need to learn customer service and the theory bad experience word of mouth have told 100′s of people never go there

Worst customer service ever!!! The chicken in the burger was not cooked at all!! So we went back to ask for them to swap it or something the staff did not believe that and instead started arguing as if we were wrong… Have not seem such behavior at any place in NZ before.. Would never go back again

We had the Greek Lamb and the Fish burgers. The fish burger was awful! The fish was dry, rubbery and tasteless. Both buns were dry and there was very little filling. Total disappointment, especially for the price. We would never go back.

Went on a late night. The staff looked unprofessional and unclean. My Burger was drowning in sauce and wasnt that special for the price. Also the bench I was sitting at was dirty. Not worth going back to.

Placed my order and headed back to my local pub, after being told that my burger would take 15mins, came back with a mate where his order was eagerly awaiting him. I even asked the girl at the counter how far away my burger was, “not too far away”. I waited another 20 mins watching other customers get their orders who had ordered while i had been standing their. The Girl did know that i had been waiting for 45mins but not once checked my order. Finally i asked where my order was, supposedly my order was “lost” no apology, just blank looks, clearly no customer service skills at all. Asked for my money back as by this point i had seen the so called chefs picking their noses and yanking their pants up, belts i assume, they have not heard of. Very disappointing!!

When we saw the vouchers for Murder Burger on Daily Do and Spreets, several of my colleagues got excited and we placed orders to go and try them. Each colleague rang up with the voucher details and placed an order and I went to collect them, since it’s not feasible for all of us to leave the office at once.
As we’d all purchased several vouchers, when we went to do this again a later time, I was told that I couldn’t pick up the burgers when I arrived as there were three vouchers and I was only one person. I can understand this, and it is fair enough, but it was a massive inconvenience since my work office is a small team and we can’t all leave the office at the same time. I was then told “Can you please sell the sides to your friends because we don’t make money off these vouchers?”
That REALLY annoyed me. If you expect the customers to purchase the sides, then make it a condition of the voucher. Don’t make me your personal salesman. All you achieve there is annoying a potential return customer.
Every time I have eaten there I have liked the food, but after being spoken to like that, I will not be returning.

We had Murder Burger this evening for dinner and normally I wouldn’t even comment, but it was awful.
The kumara chips were under cooked, raw in the middle and the burgers were not great either. The patties were overly salty, the bacon fatty and undercooked and all of the meal was cold.
This could be our local, but after tonight’s experience it will not be.

Wow there are a lot of bad reviews out there but my experience was awesome! I eat a Paleo diet which means I eat a lot of meat, veggies, fruit and healthy fat which can make buying takeaways rather a trying experience most of the time. I rang up and asked if it were possible to make me a man salad i.e. big and meaty. They were really obliging and made up a salad with a beef patty, kangaroo sausages and angus steak for $15- Brilliant guys love your work!!! Telling everyone about your fine work; keep it up!

We had heard that this place had been voted best by Metro so decided to give it a try, instead of going to our usual Burger Fuel. I’m sorry to say we were sorely disappointed. The place is a rip off. $12.50 for a chicken burger half the size of a burger fuel burger!!? Kumara chips burnt and limp and unprofessional looking guys in the kitchen more interested in chatting to each other and making burgers. I’m sorry Metro but you got is SO wrong this time.

had the double beef burger with wild boar bacon
the patties were soooo salty it was disgusting. It doesnt actually taste like beef also, wonder what “animal” the patties were really made out of, and theres not enough salad inside the burger
would rather go to burger fuel, their burgers are so much better

uuurgh… had the worst burger at murder burger last night… what was supposed to be “Angus Pure sirloin grilled to perfection” turned out to be a cold tough as boots strip of meat on a stale bun with the thinnest layer of dried up bearnaise sauce. was also missing the grilled onions which might have made it more palatable… to add insult to injury the koftas were cold and soggy (and $4.40!)… yuk. the only good part of ordering them was the pre-packaged dip that they came with… at least i could put some of that on my burger so that it was at least edible. maybe they should spend more time training their staff how to cook a burger and manage a kitchen and less time on their marketing. RIP Murder Burger… your take away menu has gone in the bin.

well…i swore I wouldn’t go back but I did, much to my disgust and regret. The only thing that has improved about this establishment since my last visit is that it was slightly cleaner, the staff behind the counter weren’t covered in ugly tattoos and the person serving us didn’t pick her nose.
This time.
The burgers were overpriced at $13 each, the flash new “eggs Benedict” burger a tasteless joke, and the satay burger has too little substance with a weak watery sauce. The “gluten free” buns are not pleasant to eat as they taste dry and leave a thick sludge in the back of your mouth giving a crusty cardboard feeling as it slides down your throat doing god knows what damage on its way down.
To charge the holiday surcharge on top of that on a Sunday (waitangi day) and not tell us till the order had been made and payment being put through was even more annoying .
$13 for a tiny burger when the competition charges less for a tastier and larger burger is tantamount to insulting. I’m surprised that they are still on the strip considering the competition.

Just had a $15 Turkey Burger from this place and it was grossly overpriced and bloody horrible, the Turkey patty was so over-cooked, dry and not even hot. Quite frankly this meat/poultry did not taste like Turkey at all. For the price you would expect the meat or poultry to be cooked from scratch. No amount of sauce (which it was drowned in) helped at all. My friends beef burger wasn’t much better…will definitely NOT be spending our money here again. The whole time we were their the 2 male staff were gossiping and it appeared that the young ladies were doing the work. If this meat was cooked from scratch i will eat my hat! Burger Fuel will be getting our money in the future!

The burgers are very good, but for the price I expected a massive burger (like they do at burger fuel, burger wisconsin etc…) Nope, it’s just a very expensive, regular sized burger. $3.50 for a teeny handful of chips is also far too much.

The burgers are alright. I always order the monkeyfist and the meat is a little on the dry side and has never really improved from my observation. However, the little hash bite thingies are always great and the vibe is really relaxed.

Super tasty burgers. Easily the best burgers in town (prob why they have won best burgers 2 years running). Try the beef hummus or the beef & cheese. They are good sized burgers but don’t have that greasy post burger guilt. Tell your girlfriend – she’ll let you have burgers!

After a disappointing first time, I went there 2 more times and it got better from time to time. Burger wise they can even compete with Burger Fuel.
There’s just one thing that makes me want to run out every time I’ve been there: The music is on such high volume that you get a beep on your ears when you go out. Seriously. If they change that, I will go there again, but until then- no sorry.
