One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Cheap, and so delicious. I ordered the beef noodle soup and crispy pancake, it was so good no takeaway boxes were needed. I definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone

Super tasty and cheap. I got the summer rolls and the chilli/lemongrass chicken, both were excellent.

This was the WORST place Ive ever dined in!!! We had the groupon voucher but the owner tried to tell us she had a limit on how many people could use it in one day and would try flat out refuse to honour it, when that isnt stated anywhere when you buy it!HMM FALSE ADVERTISING It was so tiny and cramped and because its so cramped everyone tries to talk over each other and its really LOUD!! We got wedged in the corner, my friend and I couldnt hear each other speaking, when we asked to be moved to the quiter area where there was a spare table the waiter just flat out said no! We received really average entrees. Then our mains were DISGUSTING!! They look nothing like the pictures, they were sitting there in a pool of oil and just looked fowl. We tried to eat them, my dish was meant to be lemongrass and chilli beef, but it was more like strips of beef sitting in fat covered in a bottle of soy sauce. I literally could not eat one bite of it!! When we asked to speak to someone the woman owner came out and started yelling at us!! saying we had to pay for the meal because noone else had complained that night. She was so rude and abrupt would not try resolve it, she said it would be an insult to her chef if she got us another meal or gave us any type of refund. We asked to have half of the voucher refunded as there was no way we could continue to eat there as we felt sickened. She then had a rant at us about how she doesnt receive any cash from groupon etc etc and how she wasnt responsible at all. In the end we were forced to hand over the voucher as the lady had the nerve to call the police to force us to pay for food we couldnt even eat. We were still entitled to our 2 desserts or one of our drinks for which of course we didnt recieve., , and im sure that breaks our rights as a consumer..!!!

This place is a hole! The food is gross its like oil and salt on noodles or rice, it was also on a super cold plate so went cold really quick we only ate our entrees even though we had a voucher for 2 entrees 2 mains 2 drinks and 2 desserts, we just flagged the rest as it was THAT BAD! The lady was a right cow to deal with, when we told her the food was disgusting she just argued that her chef had been doing it for 12yrs and that she was not going to pass it on as it would offend him! Definitely do not recommend, the place was cramped as hell too, we were squished in a corner and most people were shoulder to shoulder, its an absolute dive I would rather eat dog shit to be honest

Hi,
I tried to use one of the groupon vouchers today. Nowhere on the voucher says mention you have a voucher when booking it just says bring the voucher in. I booked a table for two sat down waited a while then when I said I had the voucher was told that I had to of mentioned I had the voucher when booking as they have a 2 voucher per day rule. It doesn’t state this on the voucher…. The amount of vouchers sold, everyone wont be able to use their voucher which is unfair. I suggest you change this rule to at least 10 vouchers a day. It is ridiculous!!

Disappointing. Poor service. Had to ask three times to get some napkins. I got the feeling the waitress didn’t want to be there. Two of our meals came out in a timely manner but it took a another 30 minutes for the other two meals to arrive. Needless to say my partner and her mum had finished their meals before we had even received ours. When we finally got the remaining two meals they were different from what we had actually ordered. We ordered chargrilled pork vermecialli and received fried sausages with our vermecialli. The most frustrating thing about the whole experience is that the staff insisted the fried sausage was to accompany the dish instead of the chargrilled pork as described on the menu. Either way we waited a long time for a very disappointing meal.

I will never go to this restaurant again!Had an extremely dissapointing time at this restaurant! The dishes sounded so tantalising we ordered a lot, however taste was somewhat different than anticipation. Having tired of overtalking the youthful sexual talk of the neighbouring table of university students & the empty tables surrounding we asked for a doggy bag to take home as a far preferred place to eat, we were told it would cost us $1 per dish to take our dishes away (in plastic that is, which we would then have to dump in landfill somewhere) As the environment only allowed us to eat a small portion of what we’d ordered in such an environment & were unfortnately having to go home with our food I felt the fact they were charging us to do so both disgusting and dissapointing. We chose to leave our dishes behind! (leaving behind far more than $1/dish of food) They also tried to charge 5% surcharge for using a credit card, I therefore had to pay eftpos. These guys are obviously suffering immense arrogance and greed from post earthquake popularity! I will never eat there again and suggest you never compromise the opportunity of eating in a superb ChCh Vietnamese restaurant such as Saigon Star or Five Star. I have left with immense dissapointment & sadness that this kind of service and management feels that it can allow itself in a place such as Christchurch especially after all we have been through together. Negative Stars are given to this restaurant.
