I don’t know what you all are going on about, you must of gone on a wrong night or something.
We went last night and we were a party of 6, We had a banguet meal, it was all very tasty, and there was plenty of it for everybody. towards the end of the dishes coming out we were heading towards full.
Michael was our waiter for the evening and he was very polite, very accommodating, and was always available when we needed him. we were never left dry.
The restaurant etc was very clean and tidy.
We will definitely be back.

As the person said below, Nanking is beautifully presented but the food is very bland, and very skimpy serving portions. Our waitress was maybe new? and when asked about various dishes simply stated “I don’t know” without perhaps asking her manager. I don’t understand as their takeaways are lovely.

Nanking Palace is beautifully presented, hospitable, and well-priced. However, the food is pretty mediocre. It might just about suit the appetites of someone looking for a quick Asian fix, but it’s likely to disappoint more seasoned lovers of Chinese cuisine, especially natives. The chicken soup was especially bizarre, having the exact same consistency as wallpaper paste. Acceptable, but there are better options in town.

My wife had pre paid for a banquet. When we entered the restaurant to dine the manager seemed uncomfortable to accommodate us, there were only a few other diners. The waitress was polite and courteous and helped us with what we wanted the manager was cold, uninviting and unhelpful. Food was acceptable but not value for money. He also tried to overcharge us for the drinks but based on the behaviour of the manager would not dine there again.

Really nice restaurant option. Food delicious and don’t mind it if you want to swap the meat they have listed to another.
It did take a little bit of hand waving to get the attention of the staff, but are very accommodating.
Only bad thing to note is that I once had takeaways from there, and I think it made me and a flatmate sick… Restaurant definitely the better option.

Went there for a wedding reception recently, the place was at full capacity and still the food was delicious, the service was personal and extremely friendly and the staff managed to keep up with the somewhat enthusiastic drink ordering.
An eight course banquet was served and each dish was absolutely fantastic. Special recommendation of the Duck with Plum Sauce, and the Seafood Hotpot.

Went here for my brother’s birthday with the family. BYO which was great and the centre of the table spun around so you could get at all the dishes which was fun.
The food was very good as well, not just crappy takeaway style.

Great takeaways for Chinese, burgers, fish & chips . . .
Also a really neat dine-in experience – very authentic Chinese.
