We have been going regularly to this restaurant, The food is good but the let down is the sloppy cleanliness of the place and staff dress code. What greets you are dirty unclean windows and door. Unclean toilets and just a messy look to the place. Like other reviews I agree with it being very cold in winter and the takeaway side of it takes preference in service. It’s not nice having people in and out every five minutes picking up orders when you are dining out for the evening meal. It all seems to have got worse over time.

I don’t mind the food but the service is slow and the restaurant is noisy and cold in the winter.
I always do a ‘prawn count’ to decide if my Thai restaurant is good value. These guys gave me only 6 prawns in a standard Garlic Prawn takeaway dish where as our other local takaway bar gives between 8-12. Hmmmmmm.

Seated at 7, order taken 10 minutes later, entree served and hour later, plates from entree still not cleared an hour and a half later so we left the money on the table for the entree and left. No apology for or info about the wait nothing. Poor service. Entree average. Can’t comment on the rest cos we never got it. Lots of people came and went collecting their takeaways. Priority was with them. Diners at the table were left to sit and listen to their tummies rumble!

Service was terrible. It is obvious that this establishment is more concerned about its takeaway business that its table restaurant business. We waited 30 minutes for our main course and when it arrived it was a major disappointment.
The food was bland, which is something you can never expect from Thai food.
They should stick to being a second rate takeaway.

Unfortunately Native Thai has gone from one of your favourite restaurants to ‘ho-hum’. I’m not sure why the drop in quality and standards over the last 18 months or so, but the last few times we’ve either had takeaways or dine in, it’s been generally disappointing. The flavours are still quite good, but the quantity and overall quality of the meals and service has markedly dropped.
It didn’t help that we purchased discount vouchers from a popular restaurant voucher supplier, and Native Thai refused to recognize them, even thought they were clearly listed in the guide. We’ve been back twice since this incident and in one case our “prawn count” was less than 6 for a main worth $18. Sorry, but I think there’s better value to be had in the Waimakariri.
