I took my girlfriend for dinner one night, we both love curry and go to many curry restaurants. We started with the calamari and my word it was over seasoned, it was nearly unpalatable, fortunately the raw cabbage underneath made for a nice palate cleanser.
I ordered Chicken Jaipuri (the one with cherry and pineapple) to try something different, however the sauce was bland and didn’t taste like cherry or pineapple. There was however 2 glace cherries on top and about 3 chunks of pineapple in the sauce. She had the Handi Meat but we couldn’t taste the ginger or coriander just a bland gravy again.
We also spent allot of time waiting for service and for food, it didn’t seem overly busy so not sure why that was. We didn’t order any naan but two came out with the curries. I went to pay using a $40 yazoom voucher I bought (+cash) and the guy said we would have to pay for the naans? I said we didn’t order them and there was no disclaimer on the voucher mentioning this. But he wouldn’t budge and I didn’t want to cause a scene in front of my girlfriend so I just paid the extra $6
We didn’t much enjoy our experience there, and to be honest the curry place a few doors up is much tastier, more cozy, and has friendlier staff.

I like it~! The food was great! The table we had could watch Bollywood movie so we didn’t get board while we were waiting for the food but just one little thing was that the waiter was a bit pushy. He asked us to order naan bread as well. Even we’ve already ordered entree & mains… Guess what, I ordered naan bread……..lol. We couldn’t finish the food as we are not big eaters. It could’ve been 5 stars but for this reason 4 starts.

I am in the restaurant right now. It has taken us 45 mins to get served. When they did bring the main course it took them another 5 mins to bring the rice. The frustration of the waiting was compounded by the draft on my back. Not a good experience.

we went to Nite Spice years ago and didnt really rate it, however have eaten there twice in the last month and think its excellent.
Its well priced, the food is absolutely divine, and the surroundings really pleasant. The staff are really friendly and know their menu. Their Mon-Weds specials are also a bonus.

I went to Nite Spice for the first time last Saturday night. The restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated in a modern way. The staff were friendly and attentive.
The three of us ordered Roganjosh, Fish Marabari and Tandoori Chicken Salad for main. We asked for mild curry as we have little tolerance for hot spice but were very surprised that the curry came not spicy at all. I guess different restaurants have different standards of what mild is. I commented on this when the staff asked if we enjoyed the meal later in the evening and were advised that they prepare their food to suit Kiwis. Funny enough I did notice a lot of Kiwis getting takeaways at Nite Spice and the majority of diners were Kiwis. I reckon that it would be a nice place to bring someone who don’t eat spicy curry. Just bear in mind you order something suitable for yourself. Of the three mains, Fish Marabari was our favourite.
We finished our dinner with Mango Kulfi for dessert. It was very well presented. As it was our first Indian dessert I wasn’t sure what to expect but I like it.
On another note, if you have an entertainment voucher you would get 25% off but would then have to pay for the otherwise free naan.

We got the weekday specials, takeaway, for dinner. It was ready quickly and was very nice. Only complaint would be that rice wasn’t hot enough (seems to happen often with takeaway curries).

This place is one of those rare gems you happen to stumble across – a really great Indian restaurant with consistently top-quality food (and we’ve tried almost all types).
The ambience is cosy and homely, and could be made really nice with a few dimmed lights and decoration. Needless to say, this would happen to be the best Indian restaurant we’ve come across in Auckland (for dining and takeaway) and the service is impeccable.
Thanks for always a pleasant meal!
