Nomad Cafe offers an exceptionally high standard of belly dance entertainment. Shisha is available. The menu represents flavors of The Middle East and also looks after the western pallet that isn’t quite ready to venture too far out of the familiar.

My son lives in Australia, and for Mother’s Day he paid for my husband and I to dine at Nomad’s. What a fantastic nite we had! From the moment we arrived and were welcomed by Luke, the service was exemplary (you need to give lessons to the other restaurants in Whangarei!!!) faultless!! and your little waitress is a real gem. At last, a restaurant that understands service!!
The food was absolutely awesome, flavourful and well seasoned – did not have to reach for the salt and pepper for any of the dishes! I had the Moroccan Cigars and they were delicious. my husband, the Spicy Prawns – he loved them!
The Calamari was without doubt the BEST I have ever eaten (I sampled a piece from my husband’s plate) – I had the Chicken & Apricot Tagine – great! the food was beautifully presented and the food was hot when it arrived – excellent!! the desserts were divine, and the wine (Johnny Q was an excellent accompaniment to the meal. we finished our superb dining experience with apple tea, which was also lovely and hot.
My husband thought I had the best seat for viewing the talented belly dancer, and I agree – “she is very supple” I think were the words he used!!
All in all, we will be recommending your wonderful restaurant to anyone who appreciates excellent food excellent service and is looking for a true dining experience!
thank you !

Great, friendly service with a smile (: lovely atmosphere and beautiful, fragrant food, got a bit of a fright when the bellydancer rocked in, felt a little awkward with her shaking her belly by my food lol but great entertainment.

Found this magical restaurant after a long drive north.

Fantastic meal, service and atmosphere.

My sister and I had the calamari for our main and vege cigars for entree. Scrumptious. My other sister had the kebabs and was really really happy with her meal.

We shared (not a problem) a couple of deserts and they finished the meal off beautifully.

Fantastic find on a cold night in Whangarei – we’ll be back next time we are up there.

Love the atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. Had the lamb shank and the lamb tagine the other night, both tasted really good. Belly dancing is definitely a good experience, where else can you find this kind of experience in Whangarei? Prices are reasonable for the standard of food. Definitely the place to go for a great night out.

Our party of 3 ate here last week for the first time and were very impressed. Attractive surroundings and very friendly staff. Starters and mains were tasty and plentiful. Dessert was ok but small serving. We will be back and will recommend to others. The belly dancing was a great bonus.

Fantastic food and service – thanks everyone, loved the Belly Dancing, the sheesh kebabs, the sheesha, the seafood platter – so fresh and tasty – no deep fried pre frozen stuff here, not too far out for my classic Kiwi bloke either, so dont have any trouble getting him to come too.

I went to Nomad (last night) in a party of nine adults and was absolutely thrilled with the total package experience. Let me say at the outset that having an eye for detail and quality service , I can often find myself falling into critique mode rather than enjoying the experience especially if a restaurant is not meeting my high expectations. Well, at nomad the only thoughts that surfaced for me were totally positive and complimentary ones and concurred with the wonderful commentary from our friends about all aspects of this restaurant.
The staff were genuinely welcoming, helpful, attentive and patient with us. The decor is thoughtfully representative of the middle east and the owners have created a warm and intimate ambience that seemed to accentuate the feelgood experience of our party. We were given the run of the upstairs section of the restaurant, moving from a lovely big table after the first two courses to have desert and coffee luxuriating in big cushions. All of us had the four courses followed by compliments from everybody about the quality, presentation and taste of the food. All the mains were served at the same time, hot with the sweet spicy aromas of the middle east. The deserts deserve a special mention, we ordered a selection so got to taste traditional middle east favorites, decadent choc mouse, lively lemon tart and palate cleaning lime and mango sorbet and let me tell you, they were all very moorish and yummy. We were perhaps most impressed by our lovely waitress and would recommend a pay rise for her. she was engaging, friendly and helpful and professional and made us all feel a little special. The arrival of a beautiful belly dancer added to the authenticity of the restaurant. Last but not least the bill was very reasonable and totally worth the whole experience. We would unreservedly recommend this restaurant , one of our best dining experiences in Whangarei in recent years.

What a fabulous dining experience!

We dined at Nomad on 30th December 2010 and loved our three course meal.

Delicious food, wonderful service and fabulous music and entertainment.

A considerably better overall experience as well as value for money than many Whangarei restaurants we have been to. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back.

Our first dining experience (23/10/10) here and what a lovely place to be. Delicious food with a great selection to choose from, great coffee and importantly very friendly and attentive service. The restaurant was quite packed with a few diners including a large party however we were well attended to throughout the evening. Highly recommend and we will be back!

We ate here last week, and really enjoyed the vibe of this great little Turkish cafe. It was packed, with a big party upstairs and only two free tables – we were offered a choice and chose to sit in the window overlooking the cobblestone courtyard out front. Our welcome was warm from all staff, and set the tone nicely for the evening. The menu is well thought out and offered plenty of choice – we had lamb tagine and chicken tagine respectively and both were sublime and not too large that we couldn’t be tempted by the fab desserts – which were a good mix of Turkish and European. High point was the fabulous Belly Dancer who was just amazing! Service was top-notch all night with good recommendations and suggestions. I found the female toliets spotless and loved the amusing poster about the Belly Dancer! Will definately be back!

This restaurant is fantastic! The food is delicious, especially the tagines and kebabs and it is well priced. The best part is the atmosphere though – if you are there before 7.30 there is a belly dancing show and flavoured tobacco is available to smoke (I recommend apple flavour). We will definitely be back!
