This place used to be the last place in town I’d dine and judging by the number of people they seated for dinner everyone else had the same idea as me. The hotel has employed a German ( he claims to be Austrian ) to run the food & beverage department. There has been a big improvement in quality of service, atmosphere and importantly the food and drink.

Nice restaurant – happy with food and service here (although can’t comment too much on service as it was a buffet). good range and quality on buffet – ranged from roast veges, curry and rice, really nice roast lamb and roast (beef or pork?) belly, with salads and soup as well. for desert, there was also a great range as well as cheeses and self serve hot drinks.

we went as part of a large group (40-50 people). the buffet arrangement was excellent for this. i generally prefer a la carte dining but this was a nice change. interior decor and atmosphere was also excellent.

Service was friendly and prompt but food disappointing. Would not recommend the creme brulee for dessert. Mains were very average and can think of many other nice places in the same price range that I would rather dine at. Comfortable seating though and clean toilets which is always a plus.

Food was very good-infact it was excellent-steaks done to perfection-complements to the chef. However the service was abysmal, with unhelpful and unfriendly staff. It was difficult to find someone to take our meal/drinks orders, or even to get a carafe of water. They advertise themselves as a great place to dine – I don’t think so. There a many more restaurants in Palmerston North where you can obtain an great dining experience.
