They werent busy but the staff were so busy discussing their own lives they completely ignored all the signs of when we were ready to order and when we wanted another drink or further service, it felt like we were a chore not their obligation.
Food was ok if you like a big feed
We had had much better food and service at a precious visit, maybe we just struck a bad day
They played NO Music, the Menu had 12 pages, waiter hardly spoke English, was rude and did not take the time to listen to orders completly and rolled her eyes at me as well and the meat had so much fat on it we wasted alot of it, whatta waste of $200 i do not recommend them to anyone!!
She did not know what RUM they had on hand,i asked for a short glass and got a tall, she served the meals over the top of our heads without even saying excuse me sir or madam.
very dissapointed in these people, aswell they turned a couple for dinner away at 8:26pm,poor people..

I can’t say that it was a bad experience though there is certainly room for improvement.
They have a reputation for excellence in kid friendliness, and with this I wholeheartedly agree. Nearly every table or party had a high chair or young seated child. The outdoor playground and trampoline is fantastic and with the large windows you are generally able to remain seated and watch your child from a far. The windows frame the hills of Havelock and Te Mata Peak beautifully, though I found the vast openness of it and minimalistic style gave it the feel of a nice cafeteria, something you might eat at after a Queenstown bungee jump or river boat ride onsite.
The waitstaff were friendly though needed improvement in their food knowledge. A wait person is the front of line in sales, they should know their product inside and out. One of our party requested information on gluten free offerings and we were all pleased and surprised to see a gluten free menu arrive. Impressive though somewhat disappointing as it appeared to be a near copy of the main menu with many items deleted and odd annotations. For example; any burger could be made gluten free…we will just remove the bun. Not rocket science really, and was rather hoping that they would offer a gluten free bun instead of charging the same amount of money for a burger less a bun. Anyhow, while our drink order and delivery was prompt, we waited a good 20minutes to place our meal order. Our meal order was fairly specific and included things such as “bacon on the side” for the person who didn’t eat bacon but offered it to another at the table. Unfortunately, when the food did arrive and was “auctioned off” the bacon was nicely melted into the cheese requiring the removal of both. We ordered two of the BackPacker Burgers as well. While all the meal sizes were enormous, to the point of being a bit ludicrous, the burger itself was a bit of a let down. When I see a description of double meat, cheese, and egg I am expecting a flavourful robust burger. Instead our burger was sandwiched with buns the size of Melbourne Cup Hats. They were then smothered in a sweet chutney. Sorry, but when I am seeking out a meaty hearty meal, sweet is the last thing that comes to mind. Although my suspicion is that this chutney is used to mask the fact that while the meat patties are enormous (seriously just too big) they have no flavour. Where’s the Worcestershire, the hickory, some minced garlic or onion? In the end due to the obnoxious size and the overwhelming sweetness of the chutney smothered buns I removed the buns from my plate and gave them to the waitress passing by, surprisingly she didn’t question why 1/3 of the meal was being handed back. My partner ended up doing the same and both of us proceeded eating our burgers with knives and forks due to size practicalities. While we were were sorely disappointed, the chips were fantastic, crisp and light. I highly suggest noting in the menu description the presence of any item such as a strong sweet chutney to make the customer aware of the dominant flavour. I would have gladly requested it on the side.
Suggestions: Great for large eaters of slightly above average food. Fantastic venue for families.
Repeat Business: While I would not go out of my way for a return visit, i wouldn’t rule it out either. It is a great place when kids are involved but for me it is not a must do destination.

I was looking forward to a happy dining experience but it fell flat.
