Went for breakfast, the owner opened up early for us even though we were only a group of 4 adults & 2 children.
Great menu selection, even for the children. Food was really good, meals were large but we did clean up all our plates as it was so very good.
Wonderful, friendly service…very highly recommend. Would even make the trip from Tauranga just to try the evening menu!
Thanks guys.

Have been there a couple of times for dinner. The staff are very pleasant but I think they should look at the food a bit more and stop using the microwave.

stopped off here for a family lunch on the way to wellington. we were greeted by the staff and rush of warmth as soon as we walked through the door. we were also delighted by the fact that there were TWO portion sized menus, one being described as ‘petite’, the prices averaging at only $10! we were dubious at the amount of food we were actually going to get at this price, but were pleasantly surprised as when it came out (fast) it was an ample amount. the toilets and tables were clean and the coffee taste! my only complaint would be that it was not so visible when travelling south. will defiantly return to this cafe when travelling past again!

I have dined at the Ohau Restaurant several times, and find the service is great, a welcome as soon as I walk in the door, and a great atmosphere, with a log fire burning in the corner, with comfortable lounges and the days paper to read! Service is instant, and coffee is hot and as it should be, have had the pancakes which were the $10 lunch a huge helping with all the trimmings. I would certainly return.

We had lunch at the Ohau Cafe last Sunday afternoon. Easy-going atmosphere, and the place was not super-busy, just a good active buzz going around.

I’ve been here before and have a favourite meal – my advice is to just go for the anti-pasto plate for two.

It costs around $30 – and usually has fresh ham, smoked salmon, a few chicken nibble, some pate, tapenade, cream cheese (great with the salmon), slices of pineapple and orange, some sundried tomatoes and gerkins and olives.

You usually get 6 triangles of toast to help sample all this, and that might be my only complaint, as there could be MORE TOAST to handle all the food that comes with this dish.

I you like nibbling on fresh food as I do – then this dish is as good as I’ve found ANYWHERE in New Zealand.

We also had a couple of glasses of the local Ohau vineyard wine, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc … and the total bill for food and drink was just $45.

I’ve never really tried the rest of the menu – the anti-pasto is THAT good. Try it.

We travelled to the Ohau Cafe late this morning for brunch. Having never been there before, we were both looking forward to the experience.
We both came away feeling very disappointed. We both had the Big Fry up.
The food was warm when it arrived at our table, the bread wasn’t toasted as advertised on the menu, the steak was both tough and Luke warm so neither of us ate more than 3 mouth fulls. The Bacon was nice, the egg poached when it was again advertised as fried. The amount of food was good, but on the whole would not go back.

We stopped off for lunch on boxing day. The food was nice we shared the antipasto and we barley got through it. Havana coffee in big cups and no surcharge. Nice one guys but the parking needs improving.

Kind of an odd place, it has a bit of an old lady feel to it. I had the Spinach & Feta filo, which started out good, but had so much rosemary in it that I couldn’t really taste anything else by the end of it. The coffee (Havana) started out ok. It too lost its appeal toward the end. I had a delicious lemon meringue tart which was quite lovely and redeemed the other items.
Toilets were clean, and the staff member I dealt with was friendly and professional.
My food came quickly, might go back again if I’m in the area.

We came here for lunch on Sunday afternoon and by the look of the car park we thought we would not find a seat. Once we got inside we found the place was huge and there was a large selection of food. I had the pasta which was great and my husband had the big breakfast. Over all the food was good and service was fast I will return on our next trip.
