I was a visitor from Auckland, who thoroughly enjoyed my fish, chips, burger, and my baby son scoffed two hotdogs(thats a first). This shop is the friendliest and cleanest shop that i have seen in a long time. and i have honestly not tasted food from a takeaways that was this good before. the batter is tasty and crisp and for once I didnt have that sickly after taste linger in my mouth, I actually wanted more. On my return to Auckland I thought about their food for weeks. And might i add, not salty at all. This will be a definate rest stop for me for all trips in that direction. Thanks guys, you made me feel like family and i was only there for a short time. THUMBS UP FROM ME and my son.

What a wonderful establishment. Kind friendly, outgoing staff. Who even ran out in the rain to deliver our food to our car! I am a regular at this shop and I know they do not put salt on your order unless you have asked for it. Also you do not just pay for ‘a piece of fish’ you also pay for the batter, flour, gas to pick the fish up, staff member to cook it, power, vat maintenance, oil which costs $100 a vat, filter powder, filter machine, cleaning products to clean the vat. So that is where food price comes into it. I know because i own a food business too. Big ups to Okato Takeaways and see you again Friday night!

Good open hours. Food ok but fish and chips incredibly salty and expensive.
