The setting at the hotel is exquisite, the roses were in bloom and ducklings were in the pond which the restaurant overlooked, just gorgeous! We all had the prawns to start, even my father who is usually a very fussy eater adored them.
I had the Salmon and loved the kalamata puree, where do chefs come up with these ideas? Such divergent flavors that work so well together.
Mom and Dad both had the beef which was cooked perfectly to their differing desires of preparation time (usually not an easy task, impressing beef farmers).
Not that I needed it, simply that I couldn’t resist, Mom and I shared the desert sampler.
The Crème brulée was AMAZING.
Running the risk of sounding ostentatious, I have eaten some pretty amazing deserts in my time, but this took the cake.
Thank you to our lovely waiter Philip and the chefs who managed to please my very fussy father.
The perfect setting for a summer’s night, we will be back.

When we asked the waiter the take it back he told us no to start with and told us no one else has ever complained.
I felt challenged and embarrassed and told him to take it back and told him his service was bad. What ever happened to the customer is always right.
He came back for more explanation on the food telling us the chef was so astounded by us not liking it they needed a real reason, which made us feel like we wanted to run. So I told him, and suggested perhaps the chef taste it.
He asked us to stay for our mains and apologised for making us feel uncomfortable, the mains came out and were horrible, we had duck, my friend had much more duck than me, the meat was well done and not medium as the French would cook it disappointing, though it wasn’t chewy and we ate the meat as we were starving, the waiter asked us if we liked it and I said no and so did my friend and we told him we couldn’t eat it either, to which he got incredibly confrontational and hostile and quizzed us over and over so I felt pushed to tell him the truth. We said we would leave and when I gave him my voucher at the till, they played around with it for 10 mins to which point we wanted to run, we asked if we could go as clearly we didn’t eat anything. To which he told me the voucher had expired like I was a thief, and continued to stare and say you have given an expired voucher, I asked for it back and then showed him the date which was until the end of this month oMorect 31st. No apology. He shrugged and stormed off and left us standing there so we left, my friend felt so bad I said I’m going back to get the owners details, so I returned and asked the blonde waitress for the waiters name and if he was the manager which she said yes, he heard came over and asked me what now? So I said, I’m sorry but the food for those prices was unacceptable and your service was appalling and has ruined our evening, I told him the first waiter was fantastic and helpful and perhaps he should take a leaf out of his book.
I have worked in the hospitality business for years and my husband happens to be a French chef, their food and service is an insult to the industry and French cuisine.
Follow up complaint was as shocking, the food and beverage manager insulted me the next day on the phone, she said she heard the story from the waiter and said me and my friend were insulting and nasty and wouldnt be compensated for anything, when clearly I have another voucher i paid 50.00 for and now no use. the owner phoned me, after I requested the call, because I was so upset, and she said I was insulting to their food, and perhaps it was a clash of personalities and also she has had reviews rave about there food, and service and clearly I have different taste buds. She asked me to come back next week, so they can prove me wrong! when I know that is when they get a NEW CHEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Appalling I have met people who have also dined here and been incredibly disappointed with the quality of the food and service and have said they would never return.
I will never ever return. Still feel upset about the whole experience, I would never treat a customer like that!
