Worst service in Wellington.
If you are considering a Thai place in Wellington–do not go here. There are so many other amazing thai places that deserve your business! We booked a fairly large table for a party. It took the waitresses an hour and a half before they bothered to take our order. We had to actually stand up and ask for menus, even ask for them to please, please, please serve us before we collapsed of hunger. It was only when we were ready to leave when they stepped up. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the wait staff was rude (one woman practically rolling her eyes!) and somehow implied it was our fault because we didn’t flag them down earlier!

We went there for dinner with kids. This restaurant is not authentic Thai at all. They do not even know the meaning of authentic. The meal taste just sugar, very sugar and lot of sugar. We had fish curry, chicken green curry, chicken pineapple curry. All of them had no flavour other than the sweetener.
The ambiance is good but food is terrible. The veges (stir fry) was not stir fry. It was like boiled up with no spices but black sugar sauce.

Food was good. But the service was absolutely terrible. Wish I had read the reviews before hand.

Arrived at 7.30 and orders weren’t taken till 8.30 after we finally asked if they would serve us.

Food arrived at 9.20, my entree was brought out with my main. Staff didn’t apologise for the delay or explain why it took nearly 2 hours for food to arrive.

I would NOT recommend this place. Bad service just ruins good food and a good night

I went to this restaurant for the second time in 4 years on Saturday with a group of 8. I had made a booking 3 days before and it was good I did that because the rest was expecting a group of 80 later at night.
After we were sitted at our table the waitress didn’t bother to open our wine for us. Then she came to me who made the booking and said “we are busy so can you leave by 7.30pm”. We had arrived at 6pm for dinner as per our booking. I was shocked and embarrased when she asked us that because we were a group of friends meeting after a long time and there was no way we could finish by 7.30pm. I said to her, no we can’t and if this was the case I should have been told when I made the booking. She then went away had a chat with someone and came back and said “ahh its ok you don’t have to leave”
Apart from the kafaffle the night went great. The food was a bit slow but was worth the wait. It was delish!! So yes …I would recommend this place. If you get annoyed with slow orders then don’t go here though coz it will annoy you.

Arrived at 7.30, order wasn’t taken til 8.15, food arrived an hour later. The food was nothing special – of a Satay Kingdom-type quality but 3x the price. Needless to say, it wasn’t worth the wait. I will never dine here again.

Food was delicious.

Service was slow despite the empty restaurant, however when delivered the food was exceptional and prices were OK.

Curries were creamy and spicy, fish was crisp and flavorful.

Would highly recommend dining here when not in a rush, and when quality trumps speed.

We have had several occasions to eat at this fine restaurant for both business and pleasure. The food is delicious, the service is great and the menu is vast. If your an Asian food lover this place is a must. The take-away’s are yummy too!!

I went to Oriental Thai on 31 July 2009 with three friends, the service was good, the food were delicious and price was reasonable.

Went with friends on a cold friday night. While the initial welcome from stafff was warm the restaurant was not – 2 small heaters struggled to warm up the restaurant and a number of us sat with our coats on for most of the night.
Most of our entrees came out promptly but odd how we waited for 2 and saw 2 go out to other tables that ordered after us. When the food came out first I thought good, but gristle in the chicken and bones in the fish cake made me change my mind then friends had one meal which they had to ask for twice and finally came out a good 40 minutes afer everyone elses and no roti at all for the table – forgot they got busy with 4 tables!! To top it off the chef was rude when 2 guests commented on poor service on check out he just told them not to come back and we wont

I booked this place 2 weeks in advance for 21 people, rang again an hr before I had to be there to confirm that everything but they didnt know what i was talking about but in the end they set it all up, the service was FANTASTIC didnt have to wait for the table and they come and ask if everything all good etc. The food was DELICIOUS!! If you ring, just make sure you ring and confirm everything again

The service was fantastic, food was great and setting was of a royal standard. Good Thai music and cuisine was delivered and presented well. All in all this is a great little restaurant.
