My friend & I like to try new places when we meet for a breakfast catchup. She spotted this place but thought it was called ‘Niche’. It wasn’t called Niche but since we were both there we decided to give it a go.
I liked the feel as I walked in – bright, spacious, clean lines. Menu board had the favourites but couple of items I had not seen before so that was interesting. Are the spelling errors on the menu board intentional?
You could also make up your own breakfast – $4 per item, choose what bread you wanted, what meat, etc etc. Good idea. Doing this my gf got her breakfast for $1.50 less if she had chosen the same from the menu.
I am a pancake-bacon-banana girl ie always have this when it is offered so I can ‘judge’ who makes the best ‘pbb’.
The food didn’t come out in a hurry but we weren’t worried as we don’t rush when we meet. When it did arrive it was v well presented .. not slap-dash as most of the breakfast places do. And the person who served – the chef? – took time to explain how he put it together.
The pancakes weren’t crepe like but they weren’t thick fat pikelets-pretending-to-be-pancakes which was more important. The bacon wasn’t fatty & hence not over grilled to hide the fat. The banana cooked perfectly & just the right amount of maple syrup & Chantilly(?) cream. Yummy.
My friend ordered Ciabatta, poached eggs, roasted tomatoes with Hollandaise and hers arrived with the butter piped in twirl on the Ciabatta. The poached eggs not too runny so no waste there, the toms – cherry toms on a vine with a good serving of Hollandaise & a little alfalfa salad. Again good presentation & generous serving.
Our water glasses were topped up – usually its self serve – so that was nice so we didn’t have to stop to get more water.
Parking(free 120) on the street & good range of magazines.
We’ll definitely meet there again & maybe even have a family breakfast on weekend.

I came back for breakfast and the cafe continued to impress with a beautifully presented poached eggs on toast, done perfectly.
The complimentary relishes and sauces were a great feature of the menu. I was able to have some hollondaise on the side at no extra cost and choose the kind of bread too. The roasted tomatoes were still whole on the vine, magic in look and taste.
This is a somewhat hidden away gem that I know I will come back to again and again
