I heard from lot of people their meals were good specially their steaks so I decided to give it a go. Went there few weeks back on Monday and ordered few meals garlic bread, Oryans hen, and pepper steak. The waitresses were nice, kept on checking us for drinks. After a while the food arrives and the garlic bread looked so crispy and burnt on top and it was as hard as a brick we couldn’t even bite through it. Later our meals were served and it was all a terrible story totally. The salad was just chucked in any how on both the plates, I was served with mushroom sauce rather then peppersauce and my wife’s Oryans hen chicken was still pink inside, the fries were burnt and brown rather then being golden and crispy. Again the waitress turned up to check on us I complained about my sauce on the steak and she took my plate back to get it changed but even the worse was yet to come she came back after few minutes with the steak and pepper sauce. Guess what I couldn’t get any taste of the steak and more felt like the steak was washed with water and it was just heated up it tasted awful and chewy. I’m pretty sure they had some unhygienical people working there with no knowledge of food. Wonder what type of manager they had because no one even bothered to come up and apologise to us …It’s A Big NO NO place for me…

A disgusting service in a simple word I would rather rate it five over five for unsatisfactory service. As we entered the place we were handed the menu and asked to take a sit after waiting for ages waitress came to take our order. Then we waited for an hour for food and finally when it arrived the fries were totally overcooked and soggy, the plates were dirty could see the finger prints. No salt and pepper on the dinning table..we had to go up asking for tissues, we could hear the noises from the kitchen..though the salad looked fresh, and the food tasted ok.
Our drinks gt f@#$@up..as well. And we weren’t given any discounts. We also saw few tables worked away unhappily since the waitress said that they were only serving deep fried food and their manager said the kitchen was closing at 7:30pm.
But someone there needs to know how to make fries seriously….will think twice before coming again.

This was my first time going to O’Ryans and I loved it. Excellent service. Would love to go again. A big thank you to the amazing staff, they were great and very helpful. They just made my night. The food was great and I loved the seafood basket. All the food came out on time and the environment was just great, very nice and calm.
I recommend this place to anyone who wants to have good night out with family and friends

Have just read the previous two reviews and want to give a big thank you to the staff at O’Ryans for the wonderful food and service this afternoon and evening. It was my husband’s 60th birthday and our party of 30 guests (25 adults and 5 children) were extremely well looked after.
There were many positive comments from our guests about the venue, the welcoming atmosphere and the good food. One of the guests also made an enquiry about a future large group booking.

My family and I have been going to O’Ryans for quite a few years now and have seen the restaurant when it was packed and it doesn’t take much nouse to figger out that times are hard for this business… so come on guys give them a break.

Oryan’s – What a joke…My family of 4 went for dinner on Wed 12/12/12. Nice waitress appeared with the menus and was somewhat embarrassed as she had to first tell us what they didn’t have on the menu that evening…No fish, no steak, no pasta, no Irish Stew, no Bangers and Mash??? Are you kidding! I suggested it might be easier to tell us what WAS on the menu…Any of the burgers or chicken and that was it for the mains. I had two deal vouchers which were about to expire in early January so that was our one opportunity to use the vouchers. Shocking. We ordered drinks and bread and burgers. Waited for about half an hour and then my husband asked when we were getting our drinks…the waitress had forgotten about our drinks. Took about another 15 mins before we got them. Then waited about 45 mins more for our burgers and then another 15 mins for the bread. The burgers weren’t bad but overpriced for what they served. Bread had cheese on thick ciabatta bread which tasted as though it had been whipped in the microwave and that’s it. Not an enjoyable experience at all. Then I had to go to the bar to ask if we could order desserts…as the waitress didn’t come to our table at all – she was behind the bar the whole time – hardly any customers in the bar so she could have come to see if we needed anything… anyway the waitress then looking embarrassed again…proceeded to tell me there was only the chocolate brownie or the mud cake desserts available. Unbelievable. This is the second time we have dined here and granted the first was a bit better than this time – we could actually order from the whole menu – both times there was hardly anybody else there and yet both times the wait for service and for our meals was shocking. I will be complaining to the company which sold the deal vouchers about this experience as it’s false advertising when people look at the menu when they are online and purchase vouchers thinkMoreing they can actually choose anything from the menu. Don’t recommend Oryan’s to anybody and will never go there again. Minus 10 is the rating they deserve for a so-called dinner service.

Just visited on Tuesday with six work mates for lunch the food was so yammy that I had to make a booking for dinner to try their other dishes. Despite of so many negative reviews I booked for Thursday night for 15 people and none of us had any issues with the food. The steal sandwich was tender not chewy, the breads were soft and the lamb shanks were huge tasty and nicely presented so my experience with Oryans was absolutely impeccable. I organised work mates dinner after work to be here and the staff that I engaged with were absolutely wonderful. Not only did they cater to all 15 of us but they also helped me out a lot while we were at the restaurant. Being seated near the fire place, we were amazed to see a row of tables all pre set up for us in an amazing environment. The staff allowed us enough time to ensure all guests had arrived and then to make decisions regarding our meals. They promptly took our orders (which was very difficult given that there were 15 of us), drinks were bought out immediately after. I couldn’t believe the speed in which they got all of our meals out. With three of our guests arriving late, they still got all of our meals out at the same time. All 15 of us agreed that the food was impeccable so compliments to the chef. The only negative part was that the waitress serving us did not asked for our desserts but any way we were full with meals. Would recommend Oryans to all who were organising a dinner for a large group or simply as a place to go to for dinner. I really don’t believe that you will be let down and myself along with the 15 other people who attended will be sure to return.
My advice is to go and try out their food before judging through reviews.

A big thanks to the staff at O’Ryans!

First of all I congratulate the chef and his staff for the hard work they put into the restaurant. I will always keep good times I have had there with me. I have worked in some of the grottiest kitchens of some of NZ’s top restauraunts, and have worked as a Chef De parte at the Hilton. It’s not easy running any restaurant these days, and I would imagine more so in a very diversed cultural region like Manukau, you can’t please everyone. Where prices for food these days is so expensive please don’t take it out on the restaurant, it’s not their fault. But I say good luck guys and keep up with the hard work, your ok. My parents loved their steaks with mushroom sauce and I had the lamb shank and it was devine and my partner she had lamb cuttlets which was very tasty. Just a little destruction we found was that we saw the staffs were more busy with their cellphone rather then focusing on the customers. I had worked at so many places and this was something weired that I found I mean come on you are working in hospitality line not in a real state you should be more concern about serving your customers rather then texting or playing games on your cellphone. Finally, though there are few negative reviews for them I would suggest you to go out there and try their yummy food.
Will be back for more.
Cheers!!!

Been there with work mate for a birthday beautiful set up lovely place. Now the menu it has got a lot to offer which is very good. We were all together around 25 people we ordered few starters and had few drinks and then the main meals I had a steak with prawn sauce ( surf n turf) which was amazing the steak was cooked beautifully and the size of the main was more than what i paid for. The only suggestion to be made is the place needs to be having few entertainment on.
Apart from that the staffs the food all are good all the mates were happy. Going there with my family this weekend again since I asked them to get me a loyalty card.
Gonna try their oryans hen yummy!!!
Thumbs up guys !!
cheers!

Place looks pretty freaky and uninviting. Bar staff is a delight. I ordered the sausages and mash. Ummm, I don’t know what the hell was in that mash, I think it had breadcrumbs in it? Tasted very old, so I didnt touch it after the first taste. Gravy drowned my whole meal, my mash was pretty much swimming in it. Sausages were cold, presentation was appalling, was close to asking for a refund but I didnt want to be a bitch about it. Just told myself I’m never gonna eat there again. Partner was there earlier that day and ordered a burger… he said even our 2year old can make a better one.. not impressed at all.

Went back the following week for dinner the food was sooooo good. My partner loved the food so much there filled him right up…. Great place for big eaters and also cheap, spent $60 for the two us. we normally spend a lot more…. Go try new things, its worth it…

Well, the restaurant is a little off the beaten track. The décor has been done in the style of a church including dimly lit. We were surprised to find that considering a Friday night how dead it was, only spotted one other couple dinning. The barmaid was nice and friendly and asked if we were dinning. We said we would and she took our order. I asked if it was possible to withhold one of the ingredients, which she said no problem. The entree was nice, but the mains were not so good. The omission I had requested was not done, and another ingredient has been swapped over completely. My wife kindly offered to swap meals, and regretted it. The kumura mash tasted like entire salt pot had been added instead of a pinch. It was just about edible. The gaming area was very busy, apart from them it was quiet as a church ! We would not rush to go back there, staff are nice and friendly.

I visited O’Ryans for a Sunday lunch with my partner. I ordered an open steak sandwich and she ordered the fish of the day, we also ordered a garlic bread. Our orders came out incredibly quickly, this is where to good points end. The garlic bread was tiny (2 slices of a loaf, obviously buttered with garlic butter). The steak was warm and chewy, it was so chewy that it felt like eating gum. The fact that it was not piping hot, after coming out within 10 minutes suggests that it was precooked, and/or reheated from the night before. Worse, the chips that came with the meal were ¾ cooked – eatable but not crispy at all. My partner’s fish was overcooked and her chips suffered the same fate as mine. At a price of almost $60 (with drinks) this was a disgrace. Save yourself the pain and try one of the significantly better quality Manukau eateries.

This was disastrous from the moment we entered to when we left. Bar staff were not the friendliest, it was a quiet night, and yet it took a long time for staff behind the bar to even acknowledge and serve. Waiting for a drink felt like you were waiting for a main meal. Thought it would get better, but once we were seated for dinner, it immediately went downhill. There was hair in my chicken korma curry, a surprise I did not want! The staff were not even apologetic about it. I then chose another dish, which only proved to be an even more disappointment. Another friend ordered a grilled sandwich, doesn’t get any more basic, and they even managed to stuff that up, the bread was rock hard. Overall, we were unimpressed, and never going there again. This place has a complex menu (Irish & Indian), and not even close to delivering the bare minimum, talk about being unrealistically ambitious!
