Osheas Public House:
We are a friendly little pub, light and bright in Summer and toasty warm in Winter.
The beer is superb and the food is fantastic both in quality and quantity.
We have large screens inside and out for the sports fans and our outdoor areas are warm and dry.
We have had a lot of changes of late so do come in and check it out.
Cheers,
Alan.

Not very happy with the way we got treated by one of your so called managers last night. Got a juice for my 2year old daughter and my mother inlaw went back to ask for an empty cup as a 2year old can’t drink from a full cup. Then I happen to try the juice and it was pretty much really watered down juice. I went back up to them and the lady accused me of bringing in our own juice. I was telling her that it wasn’t ours, in which she stated to me they don’t have that juice! She told me my mother inlaw asked for an empty cup so we could put some juice in (our own). As I continued to tell her that a 2 year old can’t drink from a full cup I needed to empty some juice out so she could drink from it. She then told me not to speak to her like I was…. how would you of reacted!?!? I was real mad then and stood my ground. She then asked who served me which I pointed that out and the young girl came over. I did not get any sorry from the lady and am NOT happy the way she handled this. Another lady (another manager) came up to me as we were leaving and said sorry as she was right there when this all happened.

But on a better note….. LOVED the food.

Hi Trudie, Thanks for your feedback, I discussed this with Tina, she said she had apologised over what was a misunderstanding and so I am apologising to you, I’ve got my own kids who love coming to O’Sheas, so really imprtant to me that we are family…    More »

It’s not as bad as the reviews below, typical pub grub, good size portions, well seasoned food, good pub atmosphere, place was buzzing

Thanks Ali, You will start to restore my faith in human nature. Most of our customers tell me that they have had a good or even a great meal but the few who don’t seem to want to tell everybody. I thought it would be better if it was the other way around. Many…    More »

Was very disappointed, came all the way from Rotorua for a weekend, had a deal voucher we purchased for this restaurant that was valid from Sunday to Thursday. Rang Sun morn to book and everything was fine for Sun night diner until I said I had a deal voucher then was told no more voucher bookings were available so my cash was fine just not a voucher I had purchased in good faith. I told these people we had come from Rotorua and were going home next day and was pretty much told TOUGH, needless to say we will not be recommending this establishment to friends and has also made us very wary of using deal vouchers.

Hi Dave, This is not right at all, we have restrictions for vouchers on other nights but not on Sundays. I’m gutted that you were turned away and in the manner it happened. We put ourselves out as being a happy and friendly little place and this goes against what…    More »

This place had gone to the pack! Used to eat here few years ago, meals were great! How times have changed.. Went there Monday night, had maybe ten people in the bar/restaurant.. Service was poor and had to wait at the bar to order food until the barmaid had finished her ciggie outside! When we finally ordered, tables hadn’t been cleared or cleaned from previous diners.. I ordered chicken burger which was tough as old boots. My friends had surf n turf and we couldn’t believe it when “seasonal veges” turned out to be wattles mixed veg! I should have stayed home and cooked my own watery veges. And to top it off this meal was $30!! Wouldn’t go back here.. The 2 girls in the kitchen looked like they weren’t interested in being there and the cook looked grubby and uninterested… Shame as this place used to be fab but not anymore !!!

UPDATE:
Alan clearly you have not read the reviews below …And I see you are being defensive about my comments, when you as a business owner should know the customer is always right..The fact that you serve boiled mixed vege and advertise seasonal veges says it all..And you did not apologise for us having to wait in your bar that was not busy for your manageress to serve us..Disappointed with your reply to say the least..lucky burger king is down the road! Think you might need to take the comments on board rather than disagreeing Alan….

Dined here a few months ago (just remembered to place feedback). I had the ribs, was happily eating my dinner when I found a piece of plastic in my food. I told the waitstaff and she took my plate away to the kitchen. She came back a few minutes later and said dont worry the chef said its only a bit of plastic from the ribs packaging!!! No sorry, would you like a drink or refund. Another waitress came by 5 minutes later and asked how our meals were we told her about the plastic. She went away and came back a few mintues later and was very apologetic. She asked us to fill in entertainment review questionaire and said to write down about the plastic and the waitress reply to my complaint and that she would pass it on to management and get them to ring us the next day. Its been a few months and never heard anything. Disgusting, would not ever return here, staff were grumpy, not welcoming and it seemed like they didnt get along. The friendly waitress seemed like she wanted to get the chef and other rude waitress fired. Stay away from this one

Hi Sarah, thanks for your comments. We did have an issue with the chef, she is now gone but no excuses for the staff, we put out that we are the friendly pub and my least expectation is service with a smile so I do need to know if thats not happening. The food has…    More »

1st time visitor to O’Sheas and I think it will be the last.

Tuesday night and outside drinking area was resonably busy, restaurant only 3 tables dining.

I had always thought the irish were a jovial , welcoming bunch but apparentley not at O’Sheas.

Our Irish waitress could be best described as grumpy at worst Rude and Obnixous. No ” hello”, no “good evening” , no “can I help you”, no” please”, and certainly no “Thankyou”.

Wedges for an entree were hot, but we hardly had a chance to eat them when our jovial waitress appeared and asked were we” finished them yet”. Feeling a little guilty for taking so long (5 mins) we said yes you can take them. Within 1 minute our mains arrived. Med Steak Salad and fries and Pork Chops with a selection of vegetables. The Steak was more Well done than Medium the Salad was a few dry limp lettuce leaves , nothing else no garnish no dressing . The Pork Chops were chargrilled to within an inch of their lives and the Brocolli was so overcooked it could have been made into soup.

Dear me what a disaster and to call themselves a Gastro Pub. Great sence of imagination guys but Gastro is not a word that you could associate with O’Sheas.

Would I be back?.

A group of 7 of us met there in July 2011 and were more than satisfied with the food and service. Definitely will be going again.

My wife and I visited O’Sheas again last week (11 March 2013) and once agan had an enjoyable meal. The food was tasty and well prepared and the staff were friendly. We have been coming here from time to time since the mid 90′s and have NEVER had a bad experience here.

Found the meal average. Staff could be more attentive – two botched orders!! Would I go back? I guess I would just to see if it has improved. As a regular visitor to Christchurch I guess I am lucky to have other choices. Maybe the management should look at their staff and there attitude. Some I feel look as if they are happy to get a pay check and horse around. Drink service was good but you can get a good drink anywhere….. extremely disappointing

Quite bland and boring presentation of the meal, vege can be made interesting with little effort and well deep fried hard potatoes dont really cut it these days no matter the price – eftpos machine is in a dark area and got home to check the eftpos docket and overcharged!

Been going here for the last 10 years and have thought a lot of this place up till the last 2 visits. Chicken was tough and dry then tonight out with the family, staff didnt want to be at work hurried the orders meals came out burnt over cooked and luke warm. Salad flavours wernt noted on the menu!! HOT HOT HOT.
Staff were rude and obnoctiouse when questioned about the meals. We were told (I quote from the cheif) “I can’t be bothed dealing with this shit!! grab there meals give them there money back and they can piss off.”
I wouldn’t recomend this to ANYONE.
Eggs on toast all round when we got home.

Cold vegetables, tough meat. What more could you ask for. perhaps if the staff were more interested in serving than acting the fool we would return.

Highly unrecommended.
